I know exactly what you mean. There is nothing public about the financial assest of Mr. PVDS. He has definitely had time to build up a stash.

Good point. What exactly has been his job oh these many years on that isle? Who did he report to? What were his responsibilities?

At first I had the impression he was a judge, then learned he was a judge in training, who ended up failing. He was then asked to clean out his office, but is still being paid, for no work as I understand it, either until Sept. or through Sept. according to one report.

"What exactly has been his job oh these many years on that isle?"

At barest minimum, it can confidently be stated that he has been the equivalent of a US DOJ Attorney with duties in say, Puerto Rico or Guam. In plain english, a Dutch DOJ Attorney with duties in aruba......and aruba has a very long history of a very wide variety of local and international big-bucks crime of the sort that US Attorneys are interested in more than individual state attorneys are.

Yes, PVDS should be put under the microscope for the length of his tenure in aruba.

Bob Costas is a Jerk:

Costas Refuses to Host Show on Holloway
By DAVID BAUDER, AP Television Writer
Fri Aug 19, 9:11 PM ET

NEW YORK - While some cable TV hosts are making their living off the Natalee Holloway case this summer, Bob Costas is having none of it.

Costas, hired by CNN as an occasional fill-in on "Larry King Live," refused to anchor Thursday's show because it was primarily about the Alabama teenager who went missing in Aruba. Chris Pixley filled in at the last minute.

"I didn't think the subject matter of Thursday's show was the kind of broadcast I should be doing," Costas said in a statement. "I suggested some alternatives but the producers preferred the topics they had chosen. I was fine with that, and respectfully declined to participate."

Costas' manager declined to elaborate on what Costas didn't like about the topic.

Thursday's guests included Beth Holloway Twitty, the girl's mother; a television reporter; and an investigator in the case. Seven of the show's 10 guests talked about the missing girl, the other segments were about the BTK killer.

The Holloway case has been a big attraction on cable news networks during a slow news period, with Fox News Channel's Greta Van Susteren getting record ratings as she's paid almost nonstop attention to it. Reports of Costas' decision first surfaced on the mediabistro.com Web site on Friday.

"There were no hard feelings at all," Costas said. "It's not a big deal. I'm sure there are countless topics that will be mutually acceptable in the future."

Wendy Walker, senior executive producer of "Larry King Live," described it as a mutual decision for Costas not to do the show because he was uncomfortable with the subject matter.

"We love having Bob ... and since `Larry King Live' covers an extremely extensive palate of subjects, there will always be shows that he will enjoy hosting," she said.

The NBC Sports personality, also host of "Costas Now" on HBO, had agreed to be host for about 20 editions of "Larry King Live" this year. He's done six, the network said.

I don't get what is so bad about covering a story about Natalee. Not unique enough? Not intellectual enough?

I could see people turning down doing a show with OJ or the repulsive pedophile, Mary Kay Letourneau - I can't bare to watch her (LK has actually had her in person on his show). But the parents of Natalee who just want to find their child?

You've really might have something here. Why hasn't this been checked out yet. I'm sure we've all thought about where PVDS money is comming from, at one time or another. We've been mulling this case over for the past two months. Yep, IMO this angle definitely warrants a closer look. Google anyone???

Fox-The Big Story:

Tito Lacle: Searching the lighthouse area. Searching where they found the belt. No word on the jogger. When you think you are on track, then something else comes in and throws you off track, that is frustrating.

Jug Twitty: Very frustrating. I did not get to meet with the prosecutor. Did not have any info for 4 or 5 days. It is frustrating with all the ups and downs and rumors. Beth went out with Fred today and she was impressed with the way Fred searched. Beth stated that if Fred did not find anything there today then she knows that there is nothing there. I know that the gardener is a very credible witness. Hugh benefit on Thursday in Mountain Brook with Courtney Cox, Beth will be back for it.

Chris Lejuez: Another appeal hearing tomorrow. Usually the judge will rule in favor of the prosecutor. So Joran will probably be held another 30 days.

Art Wood: Joe Walker specialized equipment, 3/4 to one mile near the Marriott and the Fisherman's Hut. We had 6 divers in the water today. Today was rough. But this will be the area we will be concentrating in.

"all thought about where PVDS money is comming from"

the hell with his money.....why is he so protected from scrutiny is every single way, given his longevity and capacity with the Dutch Justice Department......if we can discover this, the money (if it really is a factor here and now) issue will become apparent.

So in your view PVDS was a guy on the take...sort of like the double-dealing young Rizzo himself once was? I'm not sure. If I remember correctly the folks in Aruba were not enamored with him and shuffled him off to some department to handle contracts.

PVDS sure didn't look like a guy with connections during the Greta interview. He looked more like a guy who owed favors than he did a guy with favors to call. But even if he had a stash of money and a mile long list of favors to call...I still am skeptical that Rizzo's entrance was of his making alone.

Geraldo is such an a$$. Right off the bat he brings up his newborn baby girl to Beth and tells her that he hopes that you will experience this type of joy again one day.

At Large:

video clip: Jossy Mansur reads the statement of Joran's that was signed by 4 Aruban police officers.

Beth: We have known this. All 3 of the suspects are pointing their finger at each other. One of the statements of Joran's was that they took Natalee to the sand dunes.

I think you may be underestimating PVDS.....I am naturally suspicious and cynical.

Not to bash Greta, but I cannot for the life of me imagine why she has not looked into PVDS actual occupation and duties.....she just lets it go with the "failed exam" for a judgeship story........believe this one thing--the Dutch DOJ has not maintained him in aruba for 15 years as a lawyer for the purpose of passing some nebulous exam to become a judge.......this guy is not and has not been the pissant peon that the public has been led to believe!
