The whole problem with TV shows today is that they let ANYBODY on and most people are just plain boring. Where are all the good shows? There are no more sitcoms, family shows, variety shows, talking animals (Mr. ED)...we've got grownup cartoons spewing profanities, reality shows out the ying-yang, way too much news that is nothing more than opinions and DNC talking points, and American Idol. Television has lost its glamor and creativity.

Speaking of adult cartoon programs... The animation industry was dying out due to high production cost. Shortcuts reduced the quality until movements were limited. Characters jerked through simplified scenes.Computer graphics saved the industry. I do not watch animated programs, but channel-surfing past them I see the cycle has returned. The artwork is poor to begin with. The high demand and short production schedules are overwhelming computer speeds. Computer games animation are an awesome exception. As an old illustrator/cartoonist I am saddened by the loss of quality of artwork in still and motion media.

Mr Ed's whole family had talent although most only showed it while running a quarter mile. And as you said, while one of the slow ones, Mr Ed still could lip synch. I doubt Mr Gore's and his TV "empire" could boast as much talent.

I can't believe how crappy Nick at Night has become the last couple of years. I work very late almost 7 days/week, so I used to turn it on for reruns of old classic shows like Cheers when I got home.

For the last year or two, NaN is just crap: the utterly lame Cosby Show (man, that thing sucks out loud), Roseanne, Freshcrap Prince - all that kind of worthless waste.

It's 100% unwatchable, and our cable system refuses to add TVLand for quality reruns.

Thank God for [adult swim] is all I've got to say. At least until [adult swim] starts up the anime junk; that's also unwatchable.

This is why I own over 400 DVDs.

Yeah, like the Honeymooners, Happy Days, Bonanza, Gun Smoke (ran in FIVE decades as an original show...AMAZING), Taxi, Barney Miller, Cheers....ahh, the good old days!

Did you see Empire? It was a six-show miniseries. Excellent.

There's a new show coming from Fox starting on the 29th. Looks really good. Prison Break.

Last season's big suprise. House. EXCELLENT.

Smallville is about to enter it's new season. The previous seasons are all on DVD now. One of the best shows on the air in my opinion.

Battlestar Galactica. The new show has edge, a great new set of twists and very good acting. Some is a little raw, but that was the first season.

There are some good shows on TV, Rescue Me is good on FX, but has a lot of sex and profanity. I really like the fact that they show a good deal of respect to the fallen firemen from 9/11.
