I've already said tooo much given my desire to go back.

As I've noted. I lived there a number of years.

And in Taipei longer.

Less than 25 and longer than 15.

I'm not really about to tell you where I lived in China or even where I traveled--except to Hong Kong a number of times.

As I noted. I I don't claim to have very good Chung guo hua. But it's plenty good enough to get my needs met; get me to the right place (on time); get me the products I want etc.

And it tended to be good enough to get 95-98% of a class of 70 students (of ALL English ability ranges in the same class) to enjoy me and our course--and many of them to note on the standard feedback form that my class was the most interesting or meaningful they'd ever taken from a Chinese or western teacher.

I don't care THAT much what you think of me or my Chinese abilities. Those I love know far better than you and that's quite sufficient, for me.

And, my Chinese is certainly a LOT poorer than I'd prefer to be able to do counseling and talk about deeper spiritual issues. However, a lot was still accomplished for good with the Chinglish of both sides.

BTW, I'm having a hard time trying to think better and better of your personality, values, character and civility. But it could just be my standard responses to assaultive cheekiness.

I prefer to relate to even those I disagree with along the lines of:

Ru2jin1 chang2cun2 de you3 xin4 you3 wang4 you3 ai zhe4 san1 yang4 qi2zhong1 zui4 da2de shi4 ai4.

However, I realize that doing so takes two, in a lot of respects.

Well at least I found out something about my HP48 that I didn't know before. It chops off the display of the scientific notation part of some values displayed on stack lines other than one. It does it in such a way that you think it's just decimal notation. What I thought was 2.6 acres/person was 2.6*10^-2 acres/person.

As usual I noticed this about two micro seconds after hitting the post button.

IMHO, ignoring, China's musing, is ignore what has been said over the years....in particular, Hong Kong, the Chinese said: return Hong Kong or we will take it by force...the Brits folded, and went home. If there is a expansionist threat from China, I would think the biggest threat is a mass overland migration into the Russia steppes' and into Europe.
