My son decided to join after 911. He just arrived in Iraq and I am proud of him. At times I have doubts about whether the war is worth my own son risking his life. Its easier when its someone else's son.

When I can be unemotional, I truly believe that controlling Iraq brings a lot of stability to the area that otherwise creates risks for our troops everywhere in the world as well as risks here.

I see that Iraq is in the geographic center of the ME and its perfect for launching an attack on other countries in the area. Maintaining this strategic advantage will provide us security for the long haul.

However, I suspect that in the not to distant future we will have a liberal-hate-america-first type who will evacuate us from there and we will have wasted our efforts.

/End of run on thoughts.

This kind of war is new for anyone not alive during WWII. This War on Terror is like that one....it is all or nothing. We can fight them on our terms in strategic places like Iraq or they will bring the fight to our shores and we will have to fight them here.

God bless your son & keep him out of harms way.
