'Best of left' in Congress writes Bush on Sheehan (John Conyers, Barbara Lee, and others)

Cindy Sheehan is getting some help from far left Democrats in Congress, who are urging President Bush to meet with the so-called "Peace Mom."

Rep. John Conyers of Michigan penned a letter to Bush making that request, and it was signed by 38 other members of the House of Representatives, all of whom are Democrats with the exception of Vermont's Bernard Sanders, who is an Independent.

"We write to respectfully urge you to meet with Cindy Sheehan and other relatives of fallen soldiers who request a meeting to discuss their deep concerns about the war in Iraq," Conyers writes. "We also request that you help ensure that Ms. Sheehan and her colleagues are not arrested as long as they continue to wait for a meeting with you at their location in the peaceable and legal manner that they have maintained thus far."

Among other well-known names who co-signed the letter are Dennis Kucinich of Ohio, Jerrold Nadler of New York, and Barbara Lee and Maxine Waters of California.

On Conyers website, he offers links to write to newspapers about Sheehan, and even provides a list of talking points "rebutting the lies of the right-wing smear campaign."

One purported lie, according to Conyers, is that "Cindy previously praised Bush, but has now changed her story to embarrass the president."

The talking-point response notes: "The Vacaville Reporter, Cindy's hometown paper, rejected this Republican claim originating from Matt Drudge. Here is a quote from the original article dated June 24, 2004: 'We haven't been happy with the way the war has been handled,' Cindy said. 'The president has changed his reasons for being over there every time a reason is proven false or an objective reached.'"

Conyers, though, excludes another quote from Sheehan from the same article, in which she says of Bush, "I now know he's sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis. I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith."

Another talking point addresses the refrain that "Bush is the president. He's got important duties to attend to. He doesn't have time to meet with everyone."

Conyers' response is, "The president has been filmed bicycling around the neighborhood and he has personally attested to spending time fishing and attending little-league baseball games. ... Keep in mind, also, that White House press secretary Scott McClellan recently proclaimed about the president's vacation in Crawford, that 'Spending time outside Washington gives the president a fresh perspective of what's on the minds of the American people. It's a time, really, for him to shed the coat and tie and meet with folks out in the heartland and hear what's on their minds.' Possibly, you may have to actually talk to people to find out what's on their mind."

It's time we focus on the 'rats who put them there. Blue zones must be tamed, or perhaps exhibited on pedestals.

Encourage more and more Dems to side with her. Encourage them to do so openly, and with fervor. Encourage them to preach their support of her from every platform.

That way we'll have them on record when it gets really embarrassing.

There is absolutely no reason Pres. Bush should meet with this woman a second time. It serves no purpose; except to continue this bs tirade she seems to be on for the Soros of the world's agenda.

Obviously this group of 38 is the "dreaded" Progressive Caucus. Why the media, especially World Net Daily, refuses to identify them as such is beyond me.

Oh my, do you mean it is going to get more embarassing than it already is?

It's going to get worse than Cindy referring to herself as "Mickey at the center of Crawford/Disneyland" ??

Could she possibly top the photos showing off her lovely pedicure and $435.00 sandals???

If they are so concerned, then why don't they go see the nut???

If I was Bush, I would head back to Washington D.C. and then go to Camp David for the rest of his vacation....

Leave the nuts there in the heat....

Instead of a second meeting with President Bush, Mrs. Sheehan needs a serious meeting with a psychiatrist! She is out of her mind, and none of the anti-American Stalinists around her give a damn about her beyond her 'I hate George Bush' rant. The poor woman is lost in grief and despair; she has no perspective, no grip on reality, and, I fear, no real chance to save herself from further decent into the abyss.

Dear radical and socialist whackos in congress:

Thanks for your letter. I met with Ms. Sheehan last year.

Looking forward to your retirement in January '07,

GW Bush

Conyers' mind is made up! Don't confuse him with facts!
