The destruction of the AMERICAN family can be traced back to the Great Society programs of LBJ. I guess they did not want to identify anything that might turn off the spigots at the public trough, or point to personal behavior and accountability.
God, when will these so-called 'leaders' let go of the professional victimhood? (answer: when we stop paying them!)

It is interesting that you mention victims. I found an old RD magazine. It was from 1991 and one of the articles was about all the so called victims. The author was saying back then that we were becoming a nation of victims and that it was very wrong.

Go back farther and see that FDR started the destruction of the family unit by enacting Social Security.
Lets have the Government take care of our elderly.
After all, why should we take care of our own families?
From there it's an easy slide on the slippery slope to Medicare, and the skewing of the medical profession away from free market principles to the FUBAR knot of doctors, lawyers, medical associations and insurance agents, all rushing for a piece of the pie.
