The lack of real substance and the targeting of youth both stem from the fact that the Democratic party has to rely on ignorance to survive.
What a whole lot of fancy sounding words to obfuscate the fact that Gore TV is:
A Turd In An Oh-So Sensitive, Non Threatening, Inoffensive, "Kumbaya" Warbling, Yet Edgily Hip Punchbowl.
Jack.
Well, after reading that piece, it looks like there's nothing left but the bones.
What did you expect?
This is the man who called The Washington Post and told them that they had the picture of the Earth from the moon upside down.
After actually watching it, I realize that it is a very effective way of reaching 20-something kids. Only 7 minutes, with a short, milquetoast format. National Review wrote a positive article about it, and I agree, this is the news outlet for the Mtv generation.
There is VERY LITTLE real story. I know that the Japan Suicides story left a LOT of information out (and from the journalist's translation of Japanese students' responses, quite a few inaccurate pieces of information,) about the strange practice of group suicides arrainged over the Internet.
The hosts are somewhat annoying MTV types as well, and seem out of place. "Hey, dude, check out this pod," is not a way to introduce journalism. It seems unprofessional and weak.
But the idea is easily digestable. Generalized ideas such as money for egg donation can be gobbled up in less than 10 minutes, and the young audience will walk away thinking they learned something. See what heppens to the channel during election season.
Personally, I think conservatives need their own channel like this. Quick views of conservative ideals, values, and patriotism, showing why we are who we are and what we are doing about it. Do it, and shift this stuff to the left, and make it bad for the palate, because now, Current is the only dish served hot like this...
Sounds gruesome.
