Police Need Your Help In Capturing Beating Suspects--Urban Youths Beat Up Iraq Vets

SEATTLE - Two soldiers who just returned from a year in Iraq were badly beaten in an attack outside Pioneer Square. But believe it or not, someone caught the beating on videotape. Now, police are asking for your help identifying the suspects.

The brutality of it all was captured on tape outside of Larry's Nightclub on First and Yesler on July 31.

Police say the victims were with two women who'd been groped by the suspects. One of the women threw a hot dog at the suspects and walked away.

They didn't get very far. The three suspects ran after them and began attacking the two men -- two soldiers who'd come home from the war.

The graphic videotape shows both victims getting beaten over and over again, and then after one of the victims loses consciousness, a suspect starts stomping on his head.

Now police want your help in catching these guys.

"We consider them very dangerous," said Seattle Police Officer Sean Whitcomb.

After not getting any leads, Seattle police have just released this tape to the media even though it happened over three weeks ago.

If you know who these suspects are, or have any information in the case, you're asked to call Seattle Police.

Both victims suffered broken jaws, while one suffered a broken arm and both had other broken bones and several bruises.

Back OT, it's very fortunate that video tape was found. I think it's an example of the inexcusable depravity of some of the people in our culture.

Well to all the nitwits that made fun of karate in another thread, this is why people should know karate or self defense. Their guns really did them good here.

I believe in defense in depth. I'm a southern boy, and quite good with firearms. I'm also a 2nd degree blackbelt in karate. I'll use bullets while I got 'em. If I run out, I can still defend myself.

I have to agree with you...I was shocked at the number of people, just standing around and watching the assault, and did nothing to break it up, and help those who were being assaulted...the video tape that was shown on TV, also shows another person video taping...so there were two folks, busy video taping, this assault...seems like they were more interested in taping than they were in actually helping someone...I hate to be judgemental, but all I could think of, was that those videotaping this incident, did so, ,with hopes of a financial gain(by selling this tape)...this is the bad side of me coming out....

I dont know if there is a Good Samaritan law in Seattle(a la Seinfeld), or not...it just seems out of common ordinary decency, someone should have wanted to help...surely the number of people in that crowd that had gathered should have been able to subdue those punks...

In the tape there is traffic and people watching. We are a sick society. Thugs like these shouldn't be tolerated. They should be exterminated.

Much like Zel Miller, I wish we lived in the Old West, or had their laws at a time like this. These worthless animals should be taken and hung. Unlike the Old West, I'd ease them down into the noose so that they have to slowly strangle to death. They'll never contribute to society - they've gone too far down the road to worthlessness.

A flame war over what? The a$$holes beat up two guys that just risked their lives to save the no good SOB's. I say throw the book at them when they catch them. Better yet, put them on the front lines so they understand what these guys did for them!

The race of the victims/soldiers is not being released in the news story. The first part of the video is not being shown because it is too violent...
