Therefore...the official forecast brings Katrina to 115 knots...or a category four on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane scale. The GFDL is more aggressive and calls for 124 knots and 922 mb. The FSU superensemble is even more aggressive bringing Katrina to 131 knots.

New Orleans has dodged the bullet several times in the past. Sooner or later their luck is going to run out. Maybe Katrina will be the hurricane that finally floods the city.
all the models are now tightley clusted with a LA or MS hit...this could even hit CAT 5 at times...water temps are at their seasonal peaks and still 2-5 degrees above normal..90-91 degress over the northern gulf
That does not bode well for the MS delta.
