The children did not "write" on the flag.

They wrote stuff and drew pictures on small pieces of red & white cloth. Those pieces were sewn together to make the huge flag.

There are quite a few pictures of that flag on this thread. Seeing it in person gave me chills.

I got chills and tears just seeing the flag in all the pictures--I can't imagine what kind of emotion it would evoke by standing in front of it! I'm glad y'all got to be there!

Thanks for the clarification. I don't think it was the kids to whom I referred. Seems to me I remember someone else actually writing on the stripes of the flag.
