Grace Darling Seibold was a role model. She organized a group of mothers that lost their children in war. Seibolds organization served as a source of comfort for the mothers who, in turn, spread their love to hospitalized veterans. On June 4, 1928, American Gold Star Mothers was officially established. The name Gold Star Mothers came from the Gold Star that families hung in their windows to honor the deceased veterans. The Gold Star symbolized the honor and glory of the supreme sacrifice of the soldier and the pride and devotion of the soldiers family. It was not a mourning symbol it was a symbol of honor and noble service. All mothers of soldiers killed in war came to be known by the generic phrase, gold star mothers.
On June 12, 1984, American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. was granted a charter by the Ninety-Eight Congress of the United States. The charter cited veterans assistance, perpetuation of the memory of the veterans and assistance to all Gold Star Mothers. Other purposes focused on patriotism, love of country, respect for the Stars and Stripes and a sense of individual obligation to the community, State and Nation. Membership to American Gold Star Mothers, Inc is limited to mothers whose sons or daughters served and died that this world might be a better place in which to live. When people hear Gold Star Mother, they automatically think of AGSM.
On the website, www.goldstarmothers.us, Ann Herd described the American Gold Star Mothers organization. She wrote, This is a group of mothers whose sons or daughters died in combat serving our country in order for the American people to live in peace and have all the freedoms that we enjoy today. Mrs. Herd explained that the choice to serve was the choice of the sons and daughters and that the price was great. She challenged everyone to avoid taking those freedoms for granted. Mrs. Herd reminded the mothers that Gold Star Mothers do not call attention to themselves. She cited the Mothers motto Honor the dead by serving the living.
The current president of American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. is Judith C. Young. Mrs. Young lost her son, Jeffrey D. Young, in the October 23, 1983 terrorist attack at the Marine Barracks in Beirut, Lebanon. In the current AGSM newsletter, Mrs. Young reminded the members of the three Rs of the organization Represent, Remember and Recruit. She also said, Some people have set out to destroy all the good works that thousands of moms have done all these years and we cannot let their sacrifices be tarnished.
Compare this to the other gold star organization in the news the Gold Star Families for Peace also known as Cindy Sheehans group. The mission for GSFP is to be a positive force in our world to bring our countrys sons and daughters home from Iraq, to minimize the human cost of this war and to prevent other families from the pain we are feeling as the result of our losses. While the mission statement sounds honorable, the other information on the GSFP website contradicts their positive intentions.
A letter, dated August 3, 2005, to friends and supporters from Cindy Sheehan labeled President George W. Bushs statements honor the sacrifices of the fallen by completing the mission and they died for a noble cause as asinine and hurtful. She called for the soldiers to be brought home from the travesty this is Iraq immediately since this war is based on horrendous lies and deceptions. Sheehan wrote that she wanted President Bush to explain this noble cause to us and ask him why Jenna and Barbara are not in harms way if the cause is so noble.
This gold star mother called American Gold Star Mothers, Inc a rah-rah, pro-war, go-Mr. President organization. This gold star mother told Keith Olbermann that it would be better if the President did not meet with her because it would really defuse the momentum. According to Mark Matthews at ABC7 News in Texas, this gold star mother holds a daily, organized scheduled news event for the media at Camp Casey so they can capture a mothers grief.
Cindy Sheehan was a speaker at a program sponsored by the International Socialist Organization at San Francisco State University in May 2005. Sheehan claimed that President Bush and his neo-conservatives killed my son. This gold star mother claimed, America has been killing people on this continent since it was started. This country is not worth dying for. This gold star mother called the President of the United States the biggest terrorist. This gold star mother said it was not a War on Terror but a War OF Terror. She called September 11 the Pearl Harbor for the neo-conservatives. This gold star mother called the US government a morally repugnant system. She told the students that the United States did not have a constitution, that we are waging a nuclear war in Iraq and President Bush should be impeached down to the person who picks up the dog s**t in Washington.
Meanwhile, the media continues to prostitute itself while bowing at the feet of this gold star mother. The far left liberal organizations, such as Code Pink and MoveOn.org, pay for catering, tents, haircuts, hotel rooms and the like for this gold star mother. The Cindy supporters look the other way when this gold star mother denigrates our country and other gold star mothers in order to get their I hate Bush message across. Al-Jazeerah prints this gold star mothers statements as evidence that Americans do not support the war in Iraq.
Cindy Sheehan may be a gold star mother but she will never be an American Gold Star Mother. Her organization may be called Gold Star Families for Peace but the phrase Gold Star is the only thing in common with the honorable American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. Cindy Sheehan is no Grace Darling Siebold no matter what the media would like us to believe.
Red Star Mothers for Pizza.
Yes, she has spit on her son's life and slap the real Gold Star mothers in the face with her actions.
