Anyone else annoyed by President Bush blathering on about Iraq after his comments about New Orleans? We have an impending catastrophe here in the U.S. - it seemed to me to be a very inoppurtune time for GWB to start spouting his general "support Iraq" stump speech.

Anyway, prayers for everyone in danger down there. Been listening to Fox News all day, and things are getting more and more frightening.

I was. 30 seconds about Katrina, the worst impending natural disaster NO has ever faced, but 5 minutes of the templated Iraq speech. It seemed 'out of touch'.

The news from the President on Iraq was very important to say the least. They have agreed on a Constitution that ensures that everyone is equal under the law regardless of race, religion, or gender. That's hugh and series. I'd say he had a pretty good audience to get the news out since it doesn't seem that it would have any other way since it's all Katrina all the time.

I expect that the people of iraq appreciate being remembered; this is a pretty important time for them as well.

Besides, as soon as this becomes a reconstruction/recovery project he will be taking hits for both places.

i've been telling everyone here (and getting flamed) that the white house communications team are idiots. not only is that speech about iraq poorly timed, but no one is listening to it anyway, its going to get zero attention.

anyway, back to the real topic at hand here.

New Orleans is all hype it is on the northwest side of the storm away from the tidal surge. If the media knew what they were talking about they would not be frieghening people in new orleans. The tidal surge is on the east side of the storm when Ivan hit alabama the east side had the storm surge. New Orleans will be on the west side and there will be very little flooding.

The media is a joke there are no live video feeds from crawford so they use a military phone hook when Bush gives a press conference from there. They play his whole press conference on terrible audio. Why can't they just wait ten minutes then play the video with good audio quality. During a hurricane you want people to feel secured not on a terrible audio line. Then they wind up having to run the press conference again and cut if off short. Just play the press conference once with audio.
