In TV tirade, Rangel calls Cheney a 'sick man'

Rep. Charles Rangel, the gravelly voiced dean of the New York State congressional delegation, launched a blistering attack on Vice President Dick Cheney Friday night, calling him a "sick man" who was unfit to lead.

In a rambling interview on NY1, the Harlem Democrat also said Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is the "guy who's running the country" - not Cheney or President George W. Bush.

"Sometimes I don't think Cheney is awake enough to know what's going on," Rangel said. "He's a sick man, you know. He's got heart disease but the disease is not restricted to that part of his body. He grunts a lot so you never really know what he's thinking."

How do the leaders of the party let him get away this this garbage?

This is just bad behavior.

I think that your Congressman, Mr, Rangel, should move to Massachusetts and marry MY congressman, McDermott. They deserve eachother.

Geez. The left just can't get it straight. Either Cheney is Lex Luther and the AntiChrist, or he's a bumbling old man at death's door.

He's either the brains behind Halliburton and Master of the Financial Universe, or he's on death watch, sedated to coma status.

Get it together, folk, or maybe not. Yeah. I'm Queen of Romania btw.

You could add add Charles Rangel and all his followers together and not equal the decency of one Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, or George W. Bush.

He's just trying to make sure that Cheney doesn't run in the next election. Start this business about him being sick and let it catch on with the America people.

What are the odds. You talk a lot and nobody really knows what you're saying.

Notice how some of these media reports selected excerpts trying to make it less offensive. Here's the interview...

http://www.ny1.com/ny1/content/index.jsp?&aid=53098&search_result=1&stid=236

'Davidson Goldin, NY1 Political reporter: The president has been on vacation this summer. Do you think he takes too much vacation? Some have said he might.

Rangel: Oh no, it makes the country a lot more safe. The further Bush is away from Washington, the better it is. And sometimes I don't even think Cheney is awake enough to know what's going on. Rumsfeld is the guy in Washington to watch. He's running the country.

Goldin: Cheney's not awake enough?

Rangel: Well, he's a sick man you know.

Goldin: He's had heart disease.

Rangel: He's got heart disease, but the disease is not restricted to that part of his body. He grunts a lot, so you never really know what he's thinking. But the guy that talks a lot is Rumsfeld. And that's where our nation is getting involved in trillion dollar deficits.

Goldin: Let's come back to the defense secretary. Are you really suggesting that you don't think the vice president of the United States is healthy enough to do the job?

Rangel: Why do you think people are spending so much time praying for President Bush's health? If he ever leaves and Cheney's in charge there's not very much else to pull together for the rest of our nation. This is a sad state of affair. '

then there is this:

http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/340973p-291122c.html
'Asked whether he thinks Cheney is healthy enough to do the job, Rangel said, "Why do you think people are spending so much time praying for President Bush's health?

"If he ever leaves and Cheney's in charge, there's not very much to pull together for the rest of our nation," he said. "This is a sad state of affairs."

Rangel, who was on a roll last night, also took a potshot at the President, who has spent the last month at his ranch in Texas.

When asked if Bush takes too much vacation time, Rangel replied, "Oh, no, it makes the country a lot more safe - the further Bush is away from Washington the better it is."

A spokeswoman for the vice president declined to comment.'

finally, there's this:

.

Interesting, isn't it, how the so-called "compassionate" Democrats attack unmercifully when they see their greatest threat to the regaining the White House in DICK CHENEY..?

A DICK CHENEY that is working hard to "Save our Bacon" in a new Time of War with our Freedom directly at stake here at home with an Enemy that's now just around the corner and up your street..?

Imagine if Tom DeLay or Tancredo said this about a Democrat.

Democrats' hypocrisy is mind-boggling.

And if any Republican made similarly caustic remarks about any Democrat in general — or Rangel in specific — the Leftists would howl that it was "hate speech" and insist in column after column in the New York Slimes that the Republican in question should "apologize for their racist insensitivity" and meet with "cultural leaders"!
