Okay I have a question and I may not like the answer, but what about all the pets? Are they being left to fend for themselves? I realize human lives are more important, but I would hate to even think about having to make that choice!
I don't think I'd be able to leave my dog behind. In fact, I'm sure I couldn't.
pets are being left.
I don't think they are being allowed into the shelters.
I couldn't make that decision.
Can't imagine pets being permitted in the shelters -- what a mess that would be. My guess is that plenty of food and water left for them in the highest room in the house would be all you could do. Then just pray they'll be okay.
They will die by the thousands. Left in back yards chained to a stake. Left in clapboard houses that will be totally destroyed. Allowed to run free and we'll see many of them swimming around from the helicopter shots tomorrow with the snakes.
I thought I heard earlier that humane societies were picking up as many as they could to take to some kind of shelter for them; I was in the next room, though, and didn't hear the whole piece.
