Palestinian Authority's US assets are frozen

WASHINGTON -- A Rhode Island lawyer trying to collect a $116 million terrorism judgment against the Palestinian Authority has obtained a court-ordered freeze on all its US-based assets, severely limiting most Palestinian economic and diplomatic activities in the United States at a critical moment for the fledgling government.

The frozen assets include US holdings in a $1.3 billion Palestinian investment fund meant to finance economic development as well as bank accounts used to pay Palestinian representatives in Washington, according to lawyers and court documents filed in Rhode Island, Washington, D.C., and New York. Also frozen are about $30 million in assets from the Palestinian Monetary Authority, the Palestinian equivalent of the US Federal Reserve.

Providence attorney David Strachman, who is representing the orphaned children of a couple killed in Israel by Palestinian militants, has also initiated a court action to seize and sell the Palestinian-owned building in New York that serves as the Palestine Liberation Organization observer mission to the United Nations.

The 'say what' is we're continuing to go along with this fake notion 'of with us or against us' while our own government is harboring the terrorists we fight. Politics is more important than victory, apparently.

We've been betrayed, people just don't want to realize it.

Do you think that Palestinians should not have any administrations, banks schools, hospitals or any other infrastructure? Do you think that they should be without any economical perspectives or assets? What good will it bring in your opinion?

Why give them money for these things when they use the money instead to kill?

Why give them money

What makes you think that these assets were GIVEN to them by Americans? Not taking does not equal giving.

I think they should be disarmed until they stop the bombing.

I didn't say they were given by Americans. They could have been from the EU. If they were in America though, chances are they were American funds.

Why don't you answer my question? Why give them money for these things when they use the money instead to kill?

I hate it when my tax monies are been spent on people who hate us more than anything else. I would rather we spent money on local poverty, rather than embolden bus-bombers and baby killers. Screw them.

Disarmed or dispossesed? Should they be penniless, destitute and without hope for better future? Will it make them more or less radical?

I do not think that you should give them any money. Do not give them. But you should not seize their money either unless it is demonstrated that the money is used for criminal purpose. In later case the money should be given for safekeeping by the third neutral party,

They are currently penniless, destitute and without hope for a better future. You think their leaders were going to spend this money to help the people? Right. Just like Arafat did.

If the asset freeze holds, and this lawyer actually collects, expect there to be nothing left of the $1.3 billion. The lawyers will be all over it like sharks in a feeding tank. In this case, I'd rather have the trial lawyers get 1/3 of the money than let the Palestinians have it.
