Polk is landlocked 20mi from the Tex La border, about 100 mi N of Houston. An influx of 1 mill would literally eat the base & town outta house and home in one day!

Not what I find even worse though? Mary Landrieu's lack of sincerity. Everytime she talks it's like it has been scripted, she shows no emotion. All she cares about now is getting money from the Feds and blaming Bush for natural disasters.

No, I don't. That isn't what I'm talking about. The problem is that you can still move only so many people in 36 hours. Even with buses, you have to activate the evacuation plan well before the 36-hour mark.
Most of those people left long before the evacuation order went out.
3 days later I'll have to eat my words. You were right, total incompetence on behalf of their leaders.
