Maybe Jimmy Carter can get busy building new homes for them once NO neighborhoods are cleaned up. Just a thought.

At least they found a use for the Astrodome finally. Too bad it is such a dump. After all the Astros and Oilers had to leave it behind.

The tents in Crawford are being abandoned. Let the commies from California pay for their housing. There is room for 2,000 plus facilities for press.

"If you bring those thieves and hoodlums to Texas they will never leave."
What is it exactly about the people in the S-Dome that makes you call them theives and hoodlums?

lets see...
New Orleans has one of the highest crime rates in the nation...
Crime is always disproportionately done by the poor...
The poor are the only ones who would need this kind of assistance...
Dozens of videos of massive looting going on by their friends and neighbors...
Now we want to ship these people to MY STATE !?!
I say send them to Massachusetts! or use eminent domain to commandeer the Kennedy compound and turn it into a tent city for these people.

Actually, I'm a mama that was an Aggie (c/o '93). My oldest is only 8....but I'm starting them on the Aggie War Hymn early. =)

I don't think the folks at the Superdome are the looters and criminals. Every one of them was screened before they were allowed to enter, and they've been there since before the storm.
I'm a little distressed at all the harsh comments on this thread. There is no sewage, no airconditioning, and no running drinkable water in the Superdome. It's either move the people or they die.
Just a little compassion around here would go a long way. Sheesh.

Once they get to Texas, why would they leave? Most likely they came from slums to begin with. Now the slums are 9 feet under water. Once they go from the Astrodome to low income housing you will be stuck with them. I heard Perry say the children will be going to school in Texas-at least they'll be off the streets.

Sounds ridiculous to me. The Superdome was a failure as will be the Astrodome. Why did not the government set up tent cities as we do in war zones? Seems to me it would have been easier to provide medical, food services, security etc. than transporting 350 miles and depositing these people in Tx. I'm sure most will remain there.
To: truthandlife
It's funny. The Astrodome is controlled by the County Commissioners. I heard the County Judge on a talk radio show this morning say that no decision had been reached, they had not been asked, the Astrodome is not an emergency shelter, and does NOT have facilities for refugeees, so do NOT start showing up there." Oh, he is the one that would make the decision to allow it.
Then the top of the hour news break came on and quoted the Chron as saying it was a done deal.

Gosh, I don't know, maybe because the Superdome has electricity, running water, working toilets, and easy accessibility to bring in food and other supplies???

Many of them probably live in affluent neighborhoods in the vicinity....which means the affluent are not too far from the riff raff once those buses arrive. Not true. More like riff-raff on riff-raff over the best panhandling spots.
