"SEND $$$ to the SALVATION ARMY"

Earlier today I sent the Salvation Army $100 and earmarked it for Hurricane Katrina relief in Mississippi and Louisiana. I'm sure the SA will know how best to help the victims of this terrible tragedy.

Your contribution will be put to good use; we made a large contribution yesterday. We have supported the Salvation Army for many years for every disaster. They don't have the overhead of many organizations, they truly are very compassionate. A friend who is a fireman said they are the first to appear at every disaster but they never get any publicity.

54 (yikes!) years ago I lived in their residence for single women in NYC. It was an incredible bargain, the staff was just wonderful--like your own family. At Christmas they hung filled stockings on every door and their band played Christmas music. What a blessing they were and are!
