No One Can Say They Didn't See It Coming (Former Clintonite Bush Bashing)
Speigel ^ | 08/31/05 | Sidney Blumenthal

Posted on 08/31/2005 4:36:04 PM PDT by ElderEdda

In 2001, FEMA warned that a hurricane striking New Orleans was one of the three most likely disasters in the U.S. But the Bush administration cut New Orleans flood control funding by 44 percent to pay for the Iraq war.

Biblical in its uncontrolled rage and scope, Hurricane Katrina has left millions of Americans to scavenge for food and shelter and hundreds to thousands reportedly dead. With its main levee broken, the evacuated city of New Orleans has become part of the Gulf of Mexico. But the damage wrought by the hurricane may not entirely be the result of an act of nature...

Let the blame continue.

Now, as in Iraq, we will see that since Bush is the cause of suffering the libs will not step up and help, but rather open their bitter, ugly mouths and complain. The people of the South will suffer and it will not be because of BUSH, but because of inhumane, insufferable people such as Mr. Blumenthal.

Flap away, Mr. Blumenthatl, in your insignificant, unhelpful, unimaginative and disgraceful existence in the confines and safe harbors of the international anti-American.

It wasn't a federal problem. The state had the option to fix this for years but they did not have the political will to spend the money and possibly cut into their socialism.

Yeah, yeah, blame Bush for everything bad that happens! There is only so much money to go around. These crackpots, all they do is blame Bush for everything that goes wrong. This is really getting to be a tired old line.

a hurricane striking New Orleans was one of the three most likely disasters

Now President Bush should have known before it happened!

After all if Bush had signed the Kyoto treaty (that was only a few years ago?) then the hurricanes would have just said, "Oh! We don't want to go there!"

This is amazing. There is literally no limit to the dementia of the left. Sid Vicious is worse than the kennedy punk blaming Haley Barbour for the damage. Do they really think anybody will be swayed by this demented raving?

Just saw some footage on FOX of Shep Smith talking to some inner-city dwellers crawling out of the muck. Obviously poor inner-city peopleThe guys were practically carrying old women on their backs. These weren't looters, just folks who needed help. We all better do our part.

From the article

But the damage wrought by the hurricane may not entirely be the result of an act of nature. A year ago the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposed to study how New Orleans could be protected from a catastrophic hurricane, but the Bush administration ordered that the research not be undertaken.

Yes, if only Bush had allowed the Corps of Engineers to begin a study last year the damage from the hurricane would have been prevented.

I live in Mississippi. I had to endure the liberal Bush bashing Democrats that work with me blame Bush for the aftermath of the hurricane, excessive gas prices because Bush is in with the oil companies, no troops in NO or the Gulf Coast because our NG is in Iraq, claiming the war in Iraq being illegitimate, Blaming Bush for the looting in NO, and etc..They (in Corinth. Ms, believe that Bush never met Cindy at all)

Democrats think they have him on the ropes and are going to blame him for everything and give the Democrats a pass for any and all things that have transpired. Why do Democrats hate our country so much? Why don't they seek out the facts before blaming someone?

Speaking of the beast, she's had a lot to watch and note over the past few days: looting, direct assaults on police, gasoline panics and a worshipper procession stampede (Iraq). You know she's thinking now that declaring martial law and doing away with the Constitution (that is, what's left of it) is going to be easier than that $1,000 she turned into $100,000 in cattle futures.

Sent my money today and more goes on payday. I feel helpless and I would like to help but all I can do is send money and I hope it isn't pissed off by the Red Cross.

Blumenthal is a POS. Anyone who would take cheap advantage of a natural disaster to score political points when they might be helping the relief effort, or at least leading prayers for the victims is worthy only of our scorn. Another Clintonite shows his true colors: as if anyone had any doubt.

Sidney Blewthemall eh.

In my years on this earth, everytime I have seen man try to control water with levees it has eventually failed. It is folly and always will be.

There is so much wrong with this article one hardly knows where to start. The kind of monies appropriated by Congress to address these type problem require matching local funding before they can be spent. NO or La couldn't or wouldn't come up with the matching funds. Civil works funds are nonexpiring which means basically they sit out there available until they are spent. The funds available were not being used so why appropriate more funds on top of the funds already being used. That is why the funding was cut back. The action Congress could have taken but didn't would have been to rewrite the legislation to fully fund levy studies and repair. Oh, well.
