Proverbs: 6:30 Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;

Thanks for the reference. I notice that it does not refrain from calling a thief a thief and it still refers to stealing. Just that "men do not despise them".

I don't despise them either and under the circumstances I would also steal to survive but I would still be a thief.

I would not steal under ANY circumstances.

What I would do if law enforcement wasn't present is organize an orderly method of legally commandeering the food and distributing it fairly to all.

Exactly.

It is still theft. There is even the requirement to make restitution.

It just that the reason makes it understandable.
