Amazing.
Some freepers defended the looting, saying "you don't know what you would do in the same situation!" (yes I do - I wouldn't loot - just like almost everyone else here).
They chastised those who called for shooting looters. Called them fascists and the like.
Now, like the liberals, they get to see the fruits of their policies.
Not receiving any deterrence, the looters are emboldened and better armed. MORE people will suffer as a result of not nipping this in the bud.
But at least the hand wringers got to feel good about their situational ethics.

Maybe Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton can appeal to the people to stop looting . . . oh yeah, they would rather blame Bush for it.

I saw the video on FNC last night of several female police officers participating in the looting. They actually had a shopping cart and were rolling it down the aisles!! Anarchy.

There have been some citizen-vs.-criminal standoffs, with one shopkeeper posting an ominous sign: "You loot, I shoot."Good for him.

Note to self: Never turn in my guns. In times of chaos, warlords quickly appear, and the authorities disappear.

Why evacuate thugs to Texas?
Because Texas won't put up with lawlessness.

Ah, but we've got FReepers hereabouts whom are delighted to no end about the looting going on, and wax rhapsodic about the "hero's" committing said acts of theft in NO right now...

FOX news just had a great story. Some State Senators had sent some buses to pick up medical patients. State troopers commandeered the buses at gunpoint, and loaded them with telephone employees, saying they were more valuable than the ill patients. When the ill patients showed up, they had to stand in the aisles. WOW!

A graphic example of what the bad elements in society do to the good. That's 1500 police who could have been saving lives, which will now be lost.

My wife commented on this last night, and I used it to press the case that she needs to learn how to use our gun.

Caught a glimpse of O'Reilly's rerun around midnight, and his sage advice on the looters was "PROSECUTE 'EM"!
ROFL...sure, Bill! Business as usual...except that cop cars, paddywagons, police stations, holding cells, prisons and courts are ALL UNDER WATER! What a pompous jackass.

Isn't most of the stuff being "looted" already paid for by the fat insurance settlement the storeowner has probably already filed?

I heard that a hospital was barricading itself for fear of gangs coming in to steal drugs. Looters who ran out of stores were kicking in people's homes to steal their things!! There is no time to coddle the crooks; people like that should just be shot. Then they can get on with rescuing survivors.
To: TheForceOfOne
FOX NEWS just broke another story: There have been people volunteering their own boats and time to try to rescue people. They were going to set out at 6 am today for another day of rescuing. The first couple of boats were shot at so the rest of them have been told to stand down. WOW!

This looting never should have been allowed to get out of hand in the first place. I fault the mayor, for failing to give the right order now and, evidently, for allowing all sorts of corruption to spread in his own police department.
There was no excuse to stand by and let looters make off with TVs and other gear. Food and water, maybe, but even that should have probably been controlled and rationed, not left for the biggest and strongest to hog for themselves.
It's one of the first lessons of politics 101 that once you let looters and mobs loose, they become difficult or impossible to control without shooting people, and often unfortunately it's not the worst perps who get shot. Better to shoot a few people early than to wait around and have to shoot a lot of people.

"They are starting to get closer to heavily populated areas hotels, hospitals and we're going to stop it right now," Nagin said. Oh, they are shaking in their boots at this warning.
The only thing now that will resort any kind of order is a directive to shoot to kill those firing at workers - and doing it a few times and hanging the bodies from lamp posts as a warning. We've gone back 100 years in time in three days.
