Ten Year Old Arrested for Giving Food to Terri Schiavo Apologizes

Joshua's arrestTAMPA BAY, August 31, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Ten year-old Joshua Heldreth, the eldest of eight children, was arrested on Good Friday of this year for trespassing while attempting to bring a drink of water to Miss Terri Schaivo.  Days later Schiavo died of intentional dehydration.  In court Joshua pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 25 hours of community service and ordered to write an apology for his actions.

The boy whose arrest photo was splashed on front pages of newspapers across the nation wrote in his apology letter, "I was arrested on Good Friday for trespassing on the hospice center's property . . . Not giving Mrs. Shiavo (sic) food or water was wrong.  The reason I had to go on your property was because Jesus would do the same thing.  It made me sad that she was so thirsty and it made Jesus sad too.  I knew she would die without water and I am called by Jesus to be a defender of the defenceless.  So I had to go on your property to try to bring her a drink."

Joshua added, "I am sorry that you didn't like that and wouldn't allow me to help save her life and one day you will have to tell God why.  I won't be able to help you then like I tried to help her. I will pray for you every day . . ."

LifeSiteNews.com caught up with Joshua's father Scott Heldreth today.  Scott told LifeSiteNews.com he is very proud of his son.  "My son has amazed me through this whole thing," said Heldreth.  The proud father said it was his son's own initiative to attempt to give the starving woman a glass of water, and despite the warning of his parents that he'd be arrested, the boy insisted.  "He was the one who begged us to go down, because he wanted to give her a glass of water . . . We explained that police will never let you help . . . you'll be arrested, but he went anyways."

Pro-life leader Rev. Flip Benham of Operation Save America told LifeSiteNews.com that the whole pro-life movement shares Heldreth's pride in his son.  Benham recalls the reaction of Heldreth on Good Friday as he watched his son being arrested: "When that all took place Scott was weeping, this father was weeping tears of joy seeing his son not only talk the Christian talk but walk the walk."

While the apology letter has been submitted, Heldreth told LifeSiteNews.com he's not completely sure it will be accepted.

Felos in the morning. Good thing I wasn't eating! In that photo he is salivating like a kimodo dragon.

I spent quite a bit of time there with a Presbyterian minister and he came with a heavy bias against Catholics. At the end, he was very impressed on how much we have in common.

Your 1216 imo, means that Judge Greer was derelict in his duty by keeping HINO as guardian. Terri died as a result of Greer's dereliction of duty and Greer did it with malice of forethought too. "I don't want anybody feeding that girl." and "The law of the case is that she will die."

Well, Judge Greer, what about the GUARDIANSHIP LAWS OF THE CASE that you chose to IGNORE/DEFY/VIOLATE???

Either this DOH investigation is to clear HINO to get Greer off the hot seat or maybe eventually, the law books will be thrown at Greer. Leaders & media, we aren't stupid - it's hard to cover up a murder that the entire world knows about.

This isn't over by a long shot. We need decent judges who follow every law (that means laws that protect wards) and who are fair.

Such judges would be the opposite of the ones Terri and her real family were stuck with. Greer actually thinks he's the religious right. That must be why Calvary Baptist pillaried him in writing and why he left their church.

Thanks for the good news. Since MS is writing a book on 'the truth', I'm sure he will include why he

falsely stated that he was the recipient of a degree from Bucks County Community College

failed to comply with provisions of Florida's guardianship law and allegedly violated the state's co-habitation law.

misrepresented his arrest record on the application to the sheriff's department.

omitted at least four citations which by itself is grounds for his termination from employment and should constitute grounds for the suspension and/or revocation of his professional licenses.

Or maybe he will save it for his second book - "MORE Truths". LOL

All these aftermath investigations beg the question: Why was FLORIDA PERMITTED TO MURDER TERRI?

(my caps don't mean I'm angry, caps are for emphasis.)

But many of these allegations were known years before. It was Felos and Greer who somehow wanted/needed the satisfaction in the killing.

FV, thanks for all you've done for Terri and all the future Terri's. All your time, money, and heartaches are, well, amazing. Thank you, again.

I am absolutely not a relativist. I just don't think that you're cause is worthy of the level of anger that you're displaying. You have absolutely zero proof that Terri's wishes were to be kept alive. Her husband would know better than you or I. Since a court has resolved this dispute. It's over. If you wish to take revenge against the judge. Have at it, but it's pretty petty on your part.

It matters not what you or I THINK is right, what is right morally doesn't change.

Of course what is morally right doesn't change. However, that doesn't mean that you as a human being are correctly interpreting a situation in the context of what is morally right. You call it murder. The court said her wishes were being carried out. Nobody shot her, stabbed her, bludgeoned her, poisoned her, etc. They merely allowed her fragile body to release her spirit, so that the limbo that had held her for so many years could finally release her, and she could have some peace. That my friend, is not murder. I think it is extremely presumptuous of all of you TS obsessives to presume that you just know what she wanted. This is why I laugh and shake my head at your antics. Your heads are so far up your collective asses that you cannot see the forest for the trees. Now you think about that in the context of what is right and wrong.

"But many of these allegations were known years before. It was Felos and Greer who somehow wanted/needed the satisfaction in the killing."

My next query is, how did they get everyone on board this time to murder Terri which they failed to do in 2003 and the first attempt to kill her?

Everyone was on board this time and I believe they started working on making sure three was a charm right after she was saved in 2003.

A republican governor didn't lobby his house or senate republicans? Republicans voted against Terri instead of for her in 2003? The pro-life party (so called) in Florida abandoned her.

What the heck is wrong with the Fla GOP?

Heroes don't hide and shirk from their designated duties and simply wait until it's safe to come out. Terri had nowhere to hide on the other hand.

How did the euthanazi's sway the GOP to join them en masse?

Next year's elections are going to once again put Florida in the spotlight.
