To: Constitution Restoration Act
This is especially so in light of the fact that in June of this year the Bush Administration reduced funding for the New Orleans District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers by a record $71.2 million—an epic reduction for one fiscal year. As the Dolan Media news wire reported at the time, “The cuts mean major hurricane and flood protection projects will not be awarded to local engineering firms.

Of course, it's not like anything could have been done since Camille hit in the past 35 years. Jeez, why don't they just say it in the title: It's BUSH'S FAULT!

So Federal funding for emergency management will need to be allocated towards the recovery process.

Hopefully as salvage operations for business and residential homeowners. Then seal off the city and let the looters feed on themselves.

As if New Orleans would be a thriving, healthy metropolis in August of 2005 if the Army Corps of Engineers had allocated an additional $71 million to New Orleans in June of 2005. These people are unbelievable.

Maybe we should just start looking at the real positive elements of that move. If the ACE had started work on a major levee project this year, the thing would have been flooded while it was still being done -- and we'd be out $71 million more than the $500 bazillion this storm is going to cost when all the damage is tallied.
