Here.
Thanks nw.
I hope the authorities are aware of and making an effort to counter any opportunities that Katrina and the ensuing lawlessness has created for our enemies.
Hey there. Look what I came across:
http://irw.org/Katrina/
Sounds a bit iffy to me.
Yes, I hope so as well. I would think they are aware, I'm not sure what kind of effort they can make at this time though. I posted some thoughts on the weather board I help run (nickname ConnMan)... It's been a busy time.
I think al Qaida will probably try to hit us, in the next few weeks

Hmmm, sounds iffy to me, too.
Photoshopped?
I dont know.
I was thinking more along the lines that it could be a front, for sending money to people it shouldn't go to. Times like these, people will donate to anything they think might be legit.
If they hit us while we're in the middle of a National emergency, can you imagine the wrath towards all muslims.
I agree. Smells like a scam, IMHO.
Thanks for the ping BTW.
No problem. :)
It might not be pretty. The new tape out makes me wonder more . There still hasn't been any response to the first one, it seems. Now we have another (well, the same, but a new release). I don't pretend to fully understand their plans, but this would seem to be an opportune time for them to try something that they might have been planning for a while.

Air Strike Targets Terrorist Safe Haven in Husaybah
American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, Sept. 1, 2005 Coalition forces conducted an air strike against an identified terrorist safe haven in Husaybah, Iraq, near the country's Syrian border, military officials reported.
No assessment was immediately available on terrorist casualties.
Over the past two days, officials said, numerous reliable sources saw 50 al Qaeda terrorists staging weapons at a train station. Marine Corps F/A-18s destroyed the building using precision-guided 500-pound bombs.
Coalition aircraft attacked similar safe houses Aug. 26 and Aug. 30 in Husaybah after Iraqi citizens reported that a large group of terrorists was using an abandoned hotel and house to plan and launch attacks on local Iraqis and coalition forces.
For the past five months, officials said, Marines based at Husaybah have reported an escalation in fighting between terrorists and local tribes, as well as in attacks on the Marines.
In other news from Iraq, multinational forces located and destroyed a significant weapons cache in an isolated area near the town of Khalidiyah on Aug. 31. Responding to a tip from a concerned citizen, the coalition forces destroyed 22 122 mm artillery shells, which terrorists routinely use for car and roadside bombs.
Coalition aircraft flew 38 close-air-support and armed-reconnaissance sorties Aug. 31 for Operation Iraqi Freedom, U.S. Central Command Air Forces officials reported. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities. Coalition aircraft also supported Iraqi and coalition ground forces in creating a secure environment for ongoing Transitional National Assembly meetings.
U.S. Air Force F-16s provided close air support to coalition troops near Hazah. Eight U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. U.S. Air Force fighter aircraft also performed in a nontraditional ISR role with their electro-optical and infrared sensors, officials said.
In the air war over Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew 15 close air support and armed reconnaissance sorties in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, officials said. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, the parliamentary and provincial election process, patrols, border security and reconstruction activities.
Royal Air Force GR-7s provided close air support to coalition troops near Deh Rawood. Five U.S. Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan. Royal Air Force and French air force fighter aircraft also performed in a nontraditional ISR role, officials said.
U.S. Air Force C-17s and C-130s provided heavy airlift support, helping to sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. About 165 airlift sorties were flown, moving more than 3,790 passengers and nearly 330 short tons of cargo. This includes about 15,000 pounds of troop re-supply cargo airdropped to coalition ground forces in northeastern Afghanistan.
Coalition C-130 crews from the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Japan flew in support of either Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom.
On Aug. 30, U.S. Air Force and French air force tankers flew 33 sorties and offloaded nearly 1.9 million pounds of fuel.

Military Hurricane Relief Focuses on Saving Lives, Reducing Suffering
By Donna Miles
American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, Sept. 1, 2005 Military support for the hurricane-stricken Gulf Coast intensified today as more troops and assets arrived in the region, where responders are focusing on saving lives and relieving suffering among thousands of the hurricanes victims, the commander of Joint Task Force Katrina told Pentagon reporters today.
Speaking to reporters by satellite phone from Biloxi-Gulfport (Miss.) Regional Airport, Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honore outlined details of a massive DoD effort to support the Federal Emergency Management Agency, state governors, and other federal, state and civil authorities in the hurricane-stricken region.
More than 13,000 Army and Air National Guard members were on state active duty this morning in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida, a number expected to surge to more than 20,000 by the days end, National Guard Bureau officials reported.
Honore said the National Guard currently has 4,700 National Guardsmen on the ground in Louisiana and 2,700 in Mississippi. In Louisiana, those numbers will increase to 7,400 later today and 8,600 by Sept. 2, he said. In Mississippi, 6,000 guardsmen will be on duty by nightfall and 9,500 by Sept. 2.
Pentagon spokesman Larry Di Rita told reporters today the total National Guard contribution to the effort is likely to spike closer to 30,000 in the days ahead.
Many of those troops will be dedicated to the law-enforcement mission, helping local and state law-enforcement officials in maintaining security, he said. Unlike federal troops, the guardsmen operate under their state governors authority and are not subject to laws that prevent active-duty troops from performing law enforcement in the United States, U.S. Northern Command officials explained.
In addition, more than 7,000 active-duty troops, mostly Navy, were also supporting hurricane-relief operations in the region, a number defense officials acknowledged will increase as required.
USS Harry S. Truman, a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, was preparing to leave Norfolk, Va., today to serve as a command center and afloat staging base, Lt. Trey Brown, a Navy spokesman, confirmed. Truman is expected to carry additional helicopters from Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fla., to support search-and-rescue operations.
USS Whidbey Island, a dock landing ship also based in Norfolk, was also slated to depart for the Gulf today. Once there, it will help move heavy equipment ashore in areas not accessible by land, Brown explained.
In addition, National Guard troops and elements in every state except Hawaii and Guam were either supporting or poised to support the effort if needed, Army Lt. Gen. H Steven Blum, chief of the National Guard Bureau, told Pentagon reporters Aug. 31.
The military support is concentrating on three priorities President Bush laid out during an Aug. 31 statement to the nation: first, save lives; second, sustain lives with food, water, shelter and medical supplies; and finally, execute a comprehensive recovery effort.
Toward that end, Honore said, the primary emphasis is on conducting search-and-rescue missions and providing other life-saving support, such as getting people to the medical care they need. Equally critical, he said, is getting food and drinkable water to those left homeless by Katrina.
The task force is also helping the Louisiana National Guard and Federal Emergency Management Agency evacuate New Orleans residents taking refuge at the citys Superdome and move them to the Houston Astrodome.
U.S. Transportation Command is transporting some 2,500 patients from New Orleans International Airport to federal coordinating centers as part of the Defense Departments extensive support for the hurricane-stricken Gulf Coast, U.S. Northern Command officials reported.
Military support for search-and-rescue efforts continues throughout the region. Today, four MH-53 Sea Stallion and two HH-60 Seahawk helicopters from USS Bataan were flying medical-evacuation and search-and-rescue missions in Louisiana.
Honore told Pentagon reporters today hes ordered the Bataan to move to Biloxi, Miss., to support search-and-rescue efforts in Mississippi, where he said the disaster had spread over a far larger area than in Louisiana, leaving many areas isolated.
Three helicopters from the Armys 3rd Corps at Fort Hood, Texas, are in Baton Rouge, La., and two more are in Mississippi supporting search-and-rescue missions and damage assessments. Another five helicopters from the 920th Rescue Wing at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., and the 347th Rescue Wing at Moody Air Force Base, Ga., are also in Mississippi continuing searches and rescues, officials said.
U.S. Transportation Command also flew eight swift-water rescue teams from California to Lafayette, La. These civilian volunteer teams are trained to rescue stranded people from flooded areas.
High Speed Vessel Swift was also in the waters off Louisiana in anticipation of filling requests for help by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, officials said.
Meanwhile, more help is on the way. The Iwo Jima Expeditionary Strike Group is sailing from Norfolk and expected to be operating off the Louisiana coast beginning Sept. 4, officials said. The strike group includes USS Iwo Jima, USS Shreveport USS Tortuga and USNS Arctic.
The hospital ship USNS Comfort is slated to leave its Baltimore port Sept. 2, to reach the hurricane region by Sept. 8 to provide critical medical support, Air Force Brig. Gen. Terry Scherling, deputy director of antiterrorism and homeland defense for the Joint Staff, told reporters Aug. 31.
Four HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters from the 55th Rescue Squadron are slated to leave Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., Sept. 2 to provide additional search-and-rescue support in Mississippi, Air Force officials reported.
The Tanker Airlift Control Center at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., started generating missions for Air Mobility Command aircrews to fly supporting relief efforts in Louisiana and Mississippi, Air Force officials said.
In addition, plans are being made to deploy USS Grapple to the region to help with maritime and underwater survey and salvage operations, NORTHCOM officials reported.
Joint Task Force Katrina continued setting up its operation today at Camp Shelby, Miss., to provide command and control of DoD assets supporting recovery and relief efforts along the Gulf Coast.
Federal operational staging areas set up at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.; Naval Air Station Meridian, Miss.; Barksdale Air Force Base, La.; Alexandria, La.; and Fort Polk, La., are helping expedite the movement of relief supplies and emergency personnel into the affected areas, officials said.
Joint Forces Command is also providing DoD-leased property at the former England Air Force Base, La., as an intermediate staging base to support hurricane response in Louisiana. The airfield will serve as a staging point for National Guard troops arriving from other states to join the hurricane relief effort.
Liaisons are also based in Clanton, Ala., Baton Rouge; and Jackson, Miss., to coordinate operations among U.S. Northern Command, other DoD elements and FEMA.
Honore said DoDs contribution to the overall effort is expected to get stronger every day as more forces and their equipment pour into the region.
A lot of people need help, and our job is to try and bring that help to them, working in support of the state agencies and the lead federal agency, FEMA, he said.

A Louisiana Doctor Speaks

A Louisiana Doctor Speaks
Dr. David Caskey writes from Louisiana. We can't vouch for what he says; all I know is, he's there and we're not:
A lot is going on down here that is not in the news. First, our esteemed governor and the mayor of NO are both idiots. This is the real reason for problems. Second, the NO police force is second only to the mafia in corruption and much of the looting and theft are coming from them as well as their lassitude in doing their job. Third, all Louisiana communities need clothes of any kind. See if your local Salvation Army will send to the shelters throughout the state and blog to give any clothes to the [Salvation] Army. You notice I did not say the Red Cross, they do not have a sizable presence here and are only fishing for money like after 9/11.

Thank you for a fine new thread.
Might be a good idea to start getting ready for the next one now, this looks like it will be a busy month.

"Al Qaeda claims London bombings"
By Sally Buzbee
ASSOCIATED PRESS
September 2, 2005
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "CAIRO -- Al Qaeda's No. 2, Ayman al-Zawahri, took responsibility for the July 7 London bombings in a video aired yesterday on Al Jazeera that included a farewell statement by a man identified as one of the four suicide attackers.
It was the first explicit claim of responsibility for the blasts by the terrorist group led by Osama bin Laden.
Al-Zawahri threatened the West with "more catastrophes" in retaliation for the policies of President Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Al-Zawahri did not say outright that his terror group carried out the attacks on the London transit system that killed 56 persons, including the four bombers, but he said they were a direct response to Britain's foreign policies and its rejection of a truce al Qaeda offered Europe in April 2004. "

Sweden threatened with jihad
Sweden will "suffer in the name of Allah." Did Allah not, in the view of these people, create the Swedes? Yes, but they think he did so only for torture and destruction. From YnetNews, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:
A group using the name of Iraqi jihad group Ansar al-Sunnah has released videos showing what it claims are members training for terror attacks in the Swedish countryside.
In one video, dated August 8 2005, the group says that viewers are about to see a demonstration of the high explosives device, that we will use in the name of Allah.
This was recorded somewhere in Sweden, says a message on the video in yellow letters against military camouflage colors.
A large explosion is then seen in a heavily wooded area. While it is not possible to verify the location of the explosion, the scenery does appear to be northern European.
A second video by the group, which is dated August 29, contains images of men with blurred out faces setting off mock suicide explosives and roadside car bomb attacks....
The videos are available for download on infovlad.net , which frequently posts videos of jihad shooting and bomb attacks from around the world, along with documents containing bomb making manuals.
'Suffer in the name of Allah'
One user on the site, who identified himself as 'Dehex,' warned that Sweden will suffer in the name of Allah.
Referring to a well known Swedish reverend, Runar Soogard, who is reported to be under police protection after offending Muslims with a speech about Islams prophet, Muhammad, Dehex wrote: Runar Soogard had a very bad and nasty speech about our greatest prophet Mohamed.
It's because he doesn't wan't to apologyze to the Ummah Nation on at least television. Thats why they are giving out this videos as a warning! There will be one more warning, if he dosen't apologize on television
wrote the user, in an ominous warning.
Dehex also posted an image showing a bloodied knife plunged into a map of Sweden, accompanied by the message: We will slaughter all who dared to attack our prophet Mohamed.

"Life Sentence Given In Shooting Of Ice Cream Vendor"
By THOMAS W. KRAUSE tkrause@tampatrib.com
Published: Sep 1, 2005
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "TAMPA - On Aug. 25, 2004, Eduardo Carmenates-Zayas became enraged when an insurance company said the policy number given to him by an ice cream man who had backed into his boat was false.
The next day, Carmenates heard music coming from the Super Soft Ice Cream Co. truck.
He grabbed a knife and a gun.
When Ahmed Almomani pulled into Lexington Apartments, at 11738 N. 14th St., Carmenates jumped him. Almomani, 19 at the time, was shot and stabbed.
Then Carmenates turned his rage, and his bullets, toward sheriff's deputies. They shot back, striking Carmenates in the shoulder.
Carmenates and Almomani recovered from their injuries. No one else was wounded.
The catalyst for Carmenates' rage, the false policy number, was the result of a miscommunication. Almomani had a valid insurance policy, prosecutors said.
Almomani speaks Arabic and some conversational English. Carmenates speaks Spanish and little English. A third person tried to translate for the two, but somewhere a mistake was made."

THREE CHRISTIAN WOMEN FOUND GUILTY OF ALL CHARGES
Justice Indonesian Style
By: John M. Lindner
Special to ASSIST News Service
JAKARTA (ANS) -- The three women charged with violating Indonesia's 2002 Child Protection Act by Christianizing Muslim children were found guilty today of all charges in an Indonesian court charged with anti-Christian radicals.
Jeff Hammond, director of Bless Indonesia Today, told ANS Dr. Rebecca Laonita, Mrs. Ratna Mala Bangun, and Mrs. Ety Pangesti, who conducted a Happy Week (or Happy Sunday) program in their homes in early May, were found guilty of all charges and given a sentence of three years.
Hammond pointed out that the guilty verdict was pronounced, even though the children had their parents permission to attend, and none of them had changed their religion.
He said the verdict may actually have spared the three a worse fate, as the witnesses and judges were constantly under the threats of violence from hundreds of Islamic radicals, who threatened to kill the three ladies, witnesses, pastors, missionaries--and even the judges--if the women were acquitted.
Hammond told ANS that anti-Christian radicals arrived in nine trucks and brought a coffin to bury the accused if they were found not guilty. Their violent threats continued in their speeches before the session began.
When the verdict was read, the crowd erupted with Allahu akbar (God is greater).
Please pray for these three beautiful, gentle women, who were just trying to help save the children of prostitutes from going down the same pathway, Hammond requested.
He said the verdict will undoubtedly be appealed. However, whether true justice can ever be obtained under the intimidation of such anti-Christian radical remains to be seen.

FBI looking at incidents with smoke detectors, NWA attendants say
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Northwest Airlines' flight attendants union said Thursday that the FBI is investigating company allegations that one or more of its members tampered with smoke detectors on a flight from Japan last week.
Spokesman Peter Fiske of the Professional Flight Attendants Association said the union has "no reason to believe these allegations are true" and is confident its crew "followed all company procedures."
He said incidents involving tampering with smoke detectors "are not uncommon" and suggested that the airline might be harassing union members amid tense contract negotiations.
Union officials said they were alerted Aug. 25 that the FBI was greeting the crew of a flight from Osaka, Japan, on its arrival in Detroit. Fiske said the airline had contacted the Federal Aviation Administration, which called in the FBI. A spokesman for the FBI's Detroit office declined to comment Thursday.
A company statement earlier this week said Northwest "believes that these alleged actions do not represent the behavior of the vast majority" of its flight attendants.
Fiske said the inquiry is in its "early stages" and that six to eight flight attendants are expected to be questioned.
