"It wouldn't have occurred to me and I can't for the life of me figure out why they're doing it now. It's shocking and disgusting."

Agreed. I want to know where the public outrage is.

I'm asking what you think The Feds have not DONE.

They didn't load the buses that were sent in on Wednesday to take that first batch of people out of the Superdome with water. Why didn't somebody think of that?

Time is of the essence when people have no water. They can live without food, but not water.

It is the height of folly to not recognize what was done wrong, so that it doesn't happen again.

Sure. The Feds should have helped the locals devise a good plan. They didn't. So we have rapes in the superdome, wandering pirates terrorizing people, etc.

If this was the plan, I'd hate to see if there was no plan.

Nobody has been in charge in NO.

There is some major industry sitting idle now. You'd think some corporate CEOs would be putting some muscle to the problem by now. If the municipality is powerless, the real power could step in.

For being your very first day here, you sure arrived with an attitude. I suspect you were tossed out and we are seeing the reincarnation of you.

NO is a big deal. The biggest deal possible in the Mississippi Valley, the most important region in the entire world.

You didn't address the central point, only added something that wasn't in contention.

Homeland Security is about setting evacuation procedures, plans, etc. Looking at NO, there's not much evidence that those procedures were adequate. Then again, maybe they weren't followed.

I don't get you guys who are totally ramped. You are the verbal snipers -- when people are doing their best in a dreadful situation, you guys (many, not just you) are taking them out with sniper fire. How is that different than the depraved idiots who shot at the helicoptors on top of Tulane hospital?

Oh for God's sake! Nobody is allowed to recognize ineptness, and make recommendations for improvement?

I don't know about you, but I welcome criticism so that I can get better. And I get plenty of criticism.

Still waiting on that post where I blamed this on one authority (and you assume that is Bush) and also waiting for all the facts that you have. Get those to me ASAP so I know you are an informed person and not just someone taking a break from watching Dr Phil and Oprah to post on here.

Check your pings.

As for myself having all the facts, I do not. But I do seem to have command of quite a few more than you do.

Also, noob, here's a clue for you. It is very bad form to join a board and on your very first day, start antagonizing long time posters.

BTW, I doubt you'll find many Dr. Phil and Oprah watchers on this forum. This place is for thinking conservatives, not drooling DUers.

The Department of Homeland Security was created to respond to actual or potential terrorist attack. FEMA was created to respond to natural disaster, not to have to shoot their way into a city they're trying to save. Is it Tancredo or Buchannon?

THE POINT (as opposed to your point) is by looking at what's going on, extrapolate to a wider context: a multi-city terror strike.

Most of the larger cities would probably look a lot more like NO than they do those other smaller areas you mention.

Why isn't that obvious?

The central point is NO. All other issues are peripheral.

It could be more effective. Any fool can see that. Pres Bush should fire someone in the Cabinet, now.

And hire you I suppose ? There will be plenty of time for evaluation later, right now many American lives are at risk.

Firing people in the middle of the relief effort would be the dumbest possible thing to do.
