I'm completely against gas taxes but this will only serve to increase demand on an already strained supply.
It may actually make the gas lines worse.

Bingo, maybe they should raise the gas tax and mandate everyone take a basic econ class. ;)
Why wouldn't the gas stations just increase their prices to where they would be with taxes?
