In for a penny, in for a pound then. New Orleans is a classic example of the adage, "An armed society is a polite society."

Lesson learned from this disaster ... I need to stock more shells.

the "nervous energy" in New Orleans reminded him of the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. "I've never seen anything like that in Louisiana," Lieutenant McLeary said. There is a telling statement

Thank God LA allows it's citizens to exercise their 2nd amendment rights. If this had happened in NYC or Chicago no one would be armed except the criminals.
The right to use arms in self defense and for protection of private property is as old as the human race. Taking away that right is a criminal act in itself IMHO, and any politician who votes for a law that does that is a criminal and a traitor to the US Constitution.

If the Dems had their way none of us would be allowed to have a gun.

Lesson learned from this disaster ... I need to stock more shells.Oh I think my 4000+ rounds will be enough to see me through almost anything I can imagine happening around this area. I just need to do more shooting in order to rotate my stockpile so none of it gets too old to be reliable. Some of it is .45acp and .308 I reloaded 12-15 years ago.
I need to order some more brass and primers, my reloading gear is sitting idle way too much of the time.

Why were the looters allowed to leave? They should have been shot in the head. Knowing how mad I get at telemarketers, I think I would have shot someone coming to my house and threatening me.

Try sealing your reloads in vacuum baggies if your rabout dependabilty. A lot of it is in ziplock bags but they aren't vacuum sealed. Anyway, I think it will be OK for a long time yet. Like you, I have shot surplus military ammo that was produced before WWII. I had a misfire now and then, but the great majority of it was OK.
I remember when I bought my first surplus military rifle in 1960, It was a WWI era Italian 6.5 mm Carcano in like new condition, and I got a sealed pack of WWI Italian Army ammo with it. IIRC, the rifle cost $8.99 and the ammo was about a nickle a round. That ammo was over 40 years old and a few primers were dead, but the old Carcano was surprisingly accurate. Carcanos don't get much respect, but that old rifle was very well made and very accurate. I think it was made before WWI when quality control was much better than later when the wartime rifles were built. Some of the Carcanos made during Mussolini's regime were pretty rough.

Never fire into the air you don't know where the projectile will land. This is irresponsible gun ownership. Exactly! What do you think the NYT would be reporting had that round traveled two blocks and killed a baby? If you're going to draw.....shoot! If you're going to shoot.....shoot to end the threat, not scare it.

Part of my BUG OUT BAG is a two hundred round so called Battle Pack. Sealed 5.56mm rounds in a heavy rubberized plastic casing with a handy built in grip. I could bury them in a lake and dig them up in a couple of years and they'd be dry and ready to fire. I see these all the time at gunshows. The ammo is military grade. Works fine in either a CAR15 or my factory folding stock Mini-14.

I agree completely- this guy is a total loser- typical whining liberal- he hasn't taken one iota of resposibility for poor decision making on the local level-it's always someone else's fault!
