KATRINA: TORNADO 'DIVINE PUNISHMENT', AL-QAEDA SYMPATHISERS
ADN Kronos International ^ | Sept. 1, 2005 | AKI

Dubai, 1 Sept. (AKI) - A forum used by al-Qaeda sympathisers has dedicated a page to Hurricane Katrina in which it welcomes the natural disaster as a "divine sign against the corrupt crusading America". The page opens with a quotation from the Koran about "punishment from above" referring to the hurricane which has caused hundreds of deaths and widespread devastation in jazz capital New Orleans and in other areas of the Southern US.

"What we have seen in these days," the site recalls, "is nothing if not a sign from Allah that must push us to be more faithful to him. It is a warning and America with its force and technology can do nothing but stop and resign itself in the face of the power of Allah who guides humanity as he sees fit"

"In these hours, the American crusader forces are flying over the southern coasts of the country to try to save those lost and there are many dead who have still not been counted. The tragedy is so grave that the American authorities have not yet revealed the truth on the extent of hurrican Katrina," it read.

To back up their claims, the jihadi sympathisers quote verses 16 and 17 of the Al-Isra chapter. "When we decide to destroy a population, we (first) send a definite order to those among them who are given the good things of this life and yet transgress; so that the word is proved true against them: then (it is) we destroy them utterly".

The site also publishes 50 photos which, according to the extremist site, symbolise the destructive force of the hurricane and the enormity of the tragedy that has struck the US.

There are scores of replies from sympathisers in the forum section; many of them praise the destructive force of Katrina, and others underline that it is much more significant that the impact of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Propaganda ‘now as vital as action' to al-Qaeda

AND: "Yet most interesting is the clear influence of al-Zawahiri, who himself was heavily influenced by extremist European left wing revolutionary doctrines."

Post hoc, ergo post propter hoc. A common logical fallacy.

Be prepared for terrorist strikes. These individuals like nothing better than to kick someone they think is down or to stab someone whose back is turned.

So much for the liberals. Beware of the Islamofascists too.

I get it - and the tsunami that wiped out ten times as many muslims was allah's blessing, right?

What morons.

It was inevitable these nutjobs would interpret Katrina as divine judgment against us, and that our enemies would thus be emboldened.

Compare their reaction to the US springing to the help of the tsunami victims, most of whom were Muslims.

This is so disgusting that I think someone oughta log into their forum and post that God also killed 300,000 Muslims in Indonesia and hundreds of thousands in hurricanes in Bangladesh and ask them why god has punished Muslims ten times more severely than Christians?

They can think of Katrina as some kind of divine punishment on America. Meanwhile, in living rooms all across America - Freepers are thinking back on an unnamed tsunami that meted out divine punishment on mostly muslim populations...

Or was it divine punishment? Far more likely it was a simple natural disaster with a high cost of human life. And when it came to providing aid and comfort, Christians provided the majority of that aid and support. Just as Christians are doing most of the giving in response to the devestation left behind by Katrina.

So while our enemies and their sympathizers sit back and smirk at their good fortune, and call it divine intervention... Another kind of intervention still has their names written all over it. The kind of intervention meted out by the men and women of the free world against the enemies of freedom and all that is good in the world.

"It was inevitable these nutjobs would interpret Katrina as divine judgment against us, and that our enemies would thus be emboldened."

Well it might be...in terms of uncovering liberalism's nakedness. That little gust of dry air that pushed the hurricane to the east probably spared New Orleans a sudden catastrophic diluge as opposed to the slow one caused by the levee breaks...allowing many to escape....the difference was a distance of about 20 or thirty miles...probably wouldn't have made a difference to Mississippi...they were gonna get clobbered anyway!

The key to divine judgment isn't so much the natural disaster part as is its timing. Had a people governed internally as well as externally by more moral conservative principles been struck by a similar disaster, you would have seen a much more potent and planned response to it...heck no one would have been in the city and the others refusing to stay would have been sedated and dragged out if they refused....they could always sue later! Divine judgment is not necessarily the same as divine wrath....divine judgment is meant to expose weakness of moral character, divine wrath punishes the unrepentant and strengthens the character of those who are penitent but still caught up in the same maelstrom as the former.(The rain falls on the sinner and the righteous as the Bible states)

Human pride kicks up at the seeming arbitrariness of God's decisions..."How dare he call himself a loving God and allow all this...!" I have had such reactions myself, but my objections always stop short when I consider Christ, God in flesh, experiencing human death. The question arises to shame me for my own hubris..."If you can answer why I chose to die for the sake of the love of the Father for the world, then you will be competent to understand why there is evil in the world!"

Like most others here on FR, I've been devastated and appalled by the destruction wrought on the Gulf Coast, the bands of thugs who looted and preyed on the innocent, and the obvious incompetence of Nagin and Blanco. I can't even bring myself to call them by their official elected titles. However, there's been another concern that has started to nag at me. I'm starting to worry that the terrorists are going to view this situation as an opportunity to create even more turmoil by hitting the U.S. while she's in this vulnerable state. Since it's their desire to bring this country to her knees, I'm worried that the enemy will use this distraction to their advantage to do more damage to our great country.

Call me a worry wart, but it's a feeling I can't seem to shake.

Assuming Allah exists (*snort*) then if he were really pissed at America, wouldn't it be more effective to drop a meteor on Hollywood instead of sending a hurricane to NO?

And who was responsible for the mass slaughter of mooselimbs in the Indonesian tsunami - George Bush?

Oh wait ...
