William Weld drew first blood Thursday against 2006 governor's race front-runner Eliot Spitzer, claiming the Democrat's public persona is based on the power of intimidation... Spitzer "has a marvelous public persona right now, based 100 percent on terror power, the power of ruination," said Weld, who is seeking the Republican nomination for governor in New York.

Somebody from NY will have to tell you that. I'm from Massachusetts. Weld won *huge* majorities here running for gov.

Bill Weld is from NY originally, came to Mass. via Harvard, vacationed in his camp in the Adirondacks regularly. I don't think there's carpetbagger issue here.

I really hate the NYS GOP with a passion. The party gets weaker and weaker every year. Now we're going to nominate a whore like Weld. Hopefully the Conservative Party will get a brain and back a real candidate. Looks like I'm voting Right To Life Party next election!

Weld has absolutely zero chance. A complete DOA candidate. This is Pataki's legacy. He pretended to be a conservative to get into office, and has consistently moved to the left and done nothing to help the state party.

The only satisfaction will be seeing Mr. Vanilla pull about 1% in the GOP primaries in 2008.
