could should be will
many of these evacuees will not go back
that and the automobile industry explosion
and advances in mechanized agriculture
Look, I realize that a lot of them have jobs, and they're not all deadbeat welfare cases. I'm just a tad sour after some of the scenes I've seen and the way they're whining and demanding and attacking. THAT's an entitlement mentality. Maybe it's just that those are the only ones the MSM wants us to see, but here's a clue to the MSM....it ISN'T helping their "cause."
There was an article posted about this just a couple weeks ago.
Shrinking Detroit has 12,000 abandoned homes
On the surface, it may look like a great Homestead opportunity for industrious refugees. Give them clear title to the abandoned homes along with the materials they'll need to fix and repair them. The downside is, with the continued outsourcing and offshoring of the automotive industry and suppliers, it may be difficult to find employment in the Detroit area.
Just drier.
I'm sure the Federal Government and all people from all the states would be happy to contribute to a fund to help get N.O refugees and Detroit together back on their feet.
Sending all these good honest N.O. folks to Detroit would be just the thing to turn that city around.
It's just my opinion, but everyone I've ever talked with from up North (New England) has been the most racists people I've ever seen.
First thing out of their mouth practically we have no *blanks* here. Don't know if me being Southern they assume I would feel the same way or what but it's definetly left the impression on me that they are not as accepting of blacks as they want people to believe.
Congress is supposed to find them jobs now? How many of them had jobs BEFORE Katrina? If we got rid of all those illegals doing the "jobs Americans won't do," just maybe we'd have some Americans to do those jobs now, ya think?
Hate to break it to you but people live below the poverty level all over the Country. Leaving NO isn't going to change that.
The only thing this guy misses is that it will trigger a great white migration too. The entire NO metro area will be depopulated.
"The last I heard there are over 12,000 unoccupied houses in Detroit."
Dude, that is a plan!
The 21st century's version of the Oakies from the great dust bowl.
The only racism left in the US is in the minds and hearts of the elites.
Not to worry. By the time the shakedown artists black "civil rights" leaders get done, those who came out of New Orleans in poverty will think they hit the lottery. I can almost hear the chatter of lawyers and the rattling of legal paperwork now.
Surely people who left poverty ridden areas CAN do much better if moved elsewhere. It's all in the mentality, about changing your way of life and thinking positive, to move forward and make a better life for yourself. People CAN succeed with the right attitude. It's a new start for many of the people suffering from Katrina.
Like MLK Jr. said...the Northern "moderate" is more dangerous than the Southern Bigot.
No offense, but most of these people will not be able to support themselves in Texas unless they are gainfully employed.
Plus, if they are living under the poverty level, I will venture a guess and say they will not be in the best area!
On the other hand, for people who are willing to take responsibility for themselves, it may be a blessing for them in the long run.
I think Mayor Kwame has already made the plea...
Everlasting summer filled with ill-content
This government had us walkin' in chains
This isn't my turf, this ain't my season
Can't think of one good reason to remain
I've worked in the sugar fields up from New Orleans
It was ever green up until the floods
You could call it an omen, points you where you're goin'
Set my compass north, I got winter in my blood
Acadian driftwood
Gypsy tail wind
They call my home the land of snow
Canadian cold front movin' in
What a way to ride
Oh, what a way to go
