As an almost lifelong resident of Maryland, take my advice. Never, ever eat "all you can eat" crabs.

Good point. Had never done so before, and I wasn't thinking of that angle.

Remember $30 bushels and a $10 peck of softshells (aka steamers)?

How about the Annapolis City Dock pre-yuppification, with the old woman who sold mini-crabcakes on a Saltine out of her checkered-cloth-covered basket?

Or when you could buy fresh beaten biscuits there?

Last time I went crabbing was with a friend and his 100 yard trot line. No luck for us, but the guys next to us pulled 1 or 2 bushels in about 2 hours.

Then we picked up a bushel and gorged ourselves that evening with a couple of their neighbors at their house in Denton.

I would call that the perfect day on the Eastern Shore.
