BUSH MOM: EVERYONE WANTS TO MOVE TO TEXAS
Drudge Report ^ | 9/5/05 | Matt Drudge

Former first lady and mother to President Bush said Monday that evacuees from New Orleans have found a home in Houston.

"Almost everyone I’ve talked to says we're going to move to Houston," Barbara Bush told NPR.

"What I’m hearing is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.

"And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this (she chuckles slightly)--this is working very well for them."

Editor & Publisher notes the former First Lady's remarks were aired this evening on National Public Radio's "Marketplace" program.

I have a feeling the left is going to distort this beyond belief.

Yea so?
They are all over President Bush when the sun does not shine.

I have learned a lot about the mentality of the political left in this country during the aftermath of this hurricane.
They are,WHINY;DIVISIVE;USELESS..ETC.

These people are saying the same thing in every city they've come to. They are treated with respect, they are offered jobs, people are taking them into their homes.

They were raised being told that the white people hate them, but now they clearly see it's not the truth.

White arms wrapped around them and plucked them off rooftops, white people got on the buses in Houston, Dallas, Lubbock, Phoenix, Utah, Colorado, etc. smiled and said "Welcome to ......"

Room is being made in schools for their children, medical care is being given to people who obviously haven't received medical care in a very long time, and they're smart enough to know that their own city officials and state officials didn't even bother to help to get them out of the city.

The left is concerned that they will get jobs, buy homes, start to understand the true purpose of welfare and start voting Republican.

May I crassly suggest, the devasted area in the poorest eastern NO neighborhoods--as I have seen and heard it described--may not be missed. What is rebuilt there will easily be better. The drug addicts will have scattered, too.

I just want them out of that he** hole. In watching the interviews, I saw some of the sweetest, nicest people. They were truely grateful for the help. I know there will be the trouble makers, and the complainers. They should be duely noted and when the time is right, send them back to LA. The others deserve a chance, and I want to see them get it.

Please quit worrying about this stuff. The truth will set them free. My NOLA neighbors are disgusted with the media turning this into a racial issue. It is a human issue!

As you can see here, Jesse Jackson was afraid of this happening:

He makes his living off of people's misery. If they are given a chance to prosper in a new life, Jesse Jackson loses out.

Governor Perry, Mayor White and Judge Eckels loves that face time they're getting on TV.

I live in Houston 'cause it's a great city and always has been...so the great care, clean facilities, organization put together for these displaced folks is not surprising. We've just kept it secret. ;o)

Mark my words, Houston will become the next Detroit.

The millions of refugees which fleed the south in the 20's from the Mississippi flood and went to Detroit and Chicago completely destroyed 2 of the best cities in the world at the time.

Detroit is so bad now, people are digging up their dead relatives that are there.

50 years from now, people will be doing the same thing in Houston.

So, we cave to saying what the Dems want to hear only. Give up our freedom of speech because the dems will distort it.

I don't understand why all of us here do not understand one thing.........the dems are going to distort anything, the dems are going to complain on anything, the dems will fuss about anything.

So, it is time to quit cowering under the glare of the dems and live our lives as we see fit, say what we want, and just let them run circles around chasing their tails.

Soon, they will have to stop, because something else will come along to make them chase their tails the other direction.

So, what do we have? One party that works and gets things done, the other party that acts like nipping dogs at their feet or a dog that does nothing but chase his tail.

Now, which would you vote for in elections? The ones that do the work of government or the nippers?

In fact that is what they should be called - Nippers.

Well I have moved to Texas in the last 2 weeks and I must say that Texans are some of the friendliest people in America. I have been very impressed with their graciousness and hospitality.

"...Governor Perry..."

Yes, from the couple of minutes that I heard, he sounded as though he will get and demand respect...because if the GOP expects to go into 2008 with clowns (put any name here, almost any name) than .....????

He was very impressive....

"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
with silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

What an ignorant remark. Come to the shelter in my town and talk to these people. We're sending a family to Houston tomorrow. He has been offered a job. Get it? He was working before he was forced out of NO and he's going to be employeed again in a couple of days.

I would certainly discourage any of our guests to choose Calif. They might run into someone like you.
