No there really weren't.
For ever 100 or so thugs, there might have been one Jabbar, and THAT is still stretching it.
My explanation is unfortunately very simple.
I have observed in my life that the thug culture has a much stronger foothold in the black community than elsewhere.
We would all love to see that diminished.
The urban metro area of the Miss Gulf Coast is almost the population of Orleans parish though less concentrated.
I have long held as well that outside of the Jackson slums that Mississippi blacks have retained more of their original conservative culture than their more urban counterparts.
I believe this is evidence of that.
I also believe thugs of any color on the Mississippi Gulf Coast realize that if caught that little quarter will be given ..quite unlike the entitlement and enabling universe that has been NOLA since the mid 60s.
I'm sure there are other factors as well.
The hatred and violence in the last resort evacuation areas directed at whites by black thugs is what it so obviously is. Racial hatred based on whatever motivation necessary. And that sentiment is not nearly as isolated as some would like to think.
From my experience.
Now maybe they see me and think: "Big cracker, I hate that some beach" instinctively but I doubt it. All the rattling from folks like Malcolm X and Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and many collaborative whites have encouraged this for decades and the chickens came home to roost when give the opportunity.
That's an easy one: "The outside".
I disagree.
All those Fortune 500 executives who stole company funds were white. Talk about a subculture of evil.
I'll take a black looter grabbing a plasma television than a sociopath white man robbing me of my retirement funds.
And I am white woman(just so my agenda isn't questioned - sad, isn't it?).

For every black looter or thug there are 100 to 1 people like Jabbar Gibson.
The route Clarence Thomas and Condi took required effort and perseverance. The scum in NO doing all this looting and shooting didn't want to go that route.
Personal responsibility and personal sacrifice to make themselves a better person and have a better life for their family was just too much effort and not worth the trouble.
Better to stay ignorant and unlawful because it required about as much effort as they wanted to put into life.
That hasn't been my impression from watching local news coverage. Lots of people who've stayed in the 7th and 9th Wards got small boats and rescued anybody they could find.
I know for a fact that the New York public school system encourages such attitudes, without actually teaching the kids skills they need in the real world.
The people who promote modern "black culture" are doing such a hellacious disservice to themselves and the cause of bringing black people into the "American Dream" (TM).
One of the things they're managing to do is keeping people believing that they can't improve their lives themselves: That they need to be given things.
What's worse, the racist "black leaders" are actually lending credence to the white racist belief that these people just aren't capable of taking care of themselves, and what's worse, can't be allowed to!
It's an ugly situation that needs to be replaced! When the current "black leadership" does everything they can do to minimize the wonderful chance to have good role models, like Justice Thomas, Secretary of State Rice, General Powell, Dr Walter William, Dr. Thomas Sowell, and many, many others, yet they promote rap stars, or outright criminals as role models. They talk a good game about needing to educate the young, but then they support a culture that equates serious attempts at educating themselves as "trying to be white."
The so called black leadership attacks Bill Cosby for trying to tell people that they need to take responsibility for their lives.
It's tragic. It guarentees that millions of blacks will be living in servitude to their leaders and government, and helps ensure that the "race warlords" will continue to have very profitable employment for the forseable future.

There's no way culture is genetic. If I'd been stolen at birth and placed in the middle of an English family in London, I'd probably be very happy eating bland food and mushy peas on "chips".
There are 3 races, anthropologically speaking. Everything else is a mixture of the 3 in varying degrees. That, combined with geography, creates ethnicity. Combine that with political boundaries, and you have nationality.

Diapers is right up there with food and water, if you've got a baby that won't stop pooping and peeing just because of a hurricane and flood. Nobody would begrudge a woman stealing diapers (unless she loaded up her trunk with them or something). I wouldn't begrudge anybody taking stuff that they actually needed and had been washed away, like OTC meds, vitamins, feminine hygiene products, toilet paper, etc.
Sit-rep probably blames that on some kind of "errant genetic" activity in the past--the Spanish Armada parked (docked?) off the coast of Ireland back in the day--or some kind of rationalization like that.
LOL! But actually, they weren't on shore long enough to affect the gene pool. Yeah, some of those poor sailors (who were in fact largely Portuguese) were bludgeoned to death by the natives as soon as they washed ashore. When the Armada broke up and they started washing up on the shores of Ireland, Scotland and England, many were bludgeoned to death. The ones who washed ashore in England were killed by the English for the sake of killing them, 'cos they were the enemy, but the ones who landed in Ireland & Scotland were killed because the natives wanted their stuff; you know, their cool armor and helmets and stuff. In other words, they were mugged to death by LOOTERS!
