Great images! Thanks for posting, TomGuy.

How long before we start hearing from the DU crowd about how the evil Karl Rove staged the whole thing just to have those incredible shots of John Roberts as pallbearer for his mentor?

God grant him rest and peace.

I have never seen a female pallbearer (as opposed to an honorary pallbearer) before. Does anyone know who she is?

What a great, and charming man. I enjoyed watching an interview he gave to FoxNews a year or so ago.

Poor SDO'Connor, she is so sad. She and the Chief were good friends, dated in college and even finish number 1 and number 3 in their Law School Class at Standford. She has lost an old and dear friend.

The pallbearers were Rehnquist's clerks or former clerks.

I wonder if John Roberts will continue with the Gold Stripes on the Robe like Rehnquist??

No, he is hiding out in New Hampshire like the little coward he is. Justice Kennedy is in Asia but is cutting his trip short and flying home now.

Souter: I didn't notice him. Much of the camera work from from a distance. I did see O'Conner and Ginsberg and Roberts.

Thank you for confirming. There was a thread saying that souter didn't even put out a statement of condolence.

He's a petty little man and Sununu SR. and Rudman should be questioned on their judgement for recommending such a person to serve on the Supreme Court.

There is no way women date that man, it would be like kissing your sister.

I watched the whole thing and did not see him. They were on the stairs in order: Brewer, Ginsburg, Thomas, Scalia, O'Connor and Stevens. Were did you see Souter?

When I was watching on C-Span and they were bringing up the coffin to lay in state and I could be wrong about this, but the Justices there and they were lined up on the steps from the latest appointed to the earliest, was this Breyer, Ginsberg, Thomas, Scalia, O'Connor, and Stevens.

http://us.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/09/06/rehnquist.funeral.ap/index.html

"Lining the steps were six justices of the Supreme Court...Absent were Justices Anthony M. Kennedy and David Souter.
