Mmmm, I guess Kennedy and Souter deserve the benefit of the doubt. Maybe something suddenly came up. Hopefully something very, very important.

Interesting that Souter and is the one justice who slapped brazenly slapped his appointing President in the face by totally betraying the resume that got him considered for the Supreme Court in the first place. Souter has been far worse than Kennedy or O'Connor. Stevens would be another traitor but he's been around so long that Rehnquist probably never bothered him about his liberal activist rulings. I suspect that Rehnquist showed no respect whatsoever for that little lying scumbag Souter.

I knew Souter was weird, but now I'm thinking he is really weird!

What possible reason could there be for him not only skipping the ceremony but also not writing a statement? He has been on this Court with this distinguished colleague for many years. Being heartless doesn't make up for being stupid.

Methinks Souter needs the services of a shrink, quick!

I suppose they may have ben down in NO evacuating the poor. If they simply stayed away for political reasons, they are nothing more than RAT scum.

Maybe Souter just couldn't get a date.

"Court officials said all eight justices will attend. Justice Anthony M. Kennedy was unable to make it back yesterday from travels in China, and Justice David H. Souter also was out of town."

Hmmm, from the article it appears both were out of town. Guess they decided their business which took them out of town was too important for them to book return flights in order to pay their respects.
