Did they mention when this supposed refusal took place? If it happened today that would be a different case than a few days ago. Actually though, if the Mayor really wanted to clear the city, why not use food and water at the SewerDome as a way to lure them out?

They didn't mention a day, but Major reported right after playing a clip from Dusty Reid about why weren't water trucks allowed in. It sounded like the refusal was on Mon or Tue of last week.

My question is, the mayor of New Orleans knew the Superdome was going to be a refuge, no matter how much they denied it. It was used last year for Ivan, and they knew there were people who weren't going to get out. In fact they told people to bring 4 or 5 days of provisions. Why were there emergency stockpiles in the Dome. Was the money allocated, and then diverted?

If he mentioned the exact date,I missed it.I took it he was referring to the immediate aftermath last week either just before or after chaos broke out at the Superdome.

I believe he said that the Red Cross was ready the day after the storm hit to bring supplies in to the Superdome and the state refused them access.

The state Homeland Security Department had requested--and continues to request--that the American Red Cross not come back into New Orleans following the hurricane. Our presence would keep people from evacuating and encourage others to come into the city. Posted at Red Cross website.
