I'm a singer and I spent two years performing in casinos in that part of the country. It was common for me to hear people say that they have to "win some money to pay the rent, the phone bill, the utilities.....". I would ask these people (blacks) where they worked and they would tell me that they didn't work and were on welfare. I'm black and I am so sick and tired of hearing people avoid the reality that these people are responsible for their own lives. I heard a lot about what they don't have. Let's talk about what they do have- lots of children. These women are on TV saying that they couldn't get themselves to a safe place. If you can't get yourself to a safe place, then why the hell do you have five kids?! How are they going to get their children to a safe place? I'm not on the road anymore and I'm married with one child and trust me, wild horses couldn't have kept me from saving my son's life. That's the job of a parent.
