Bless you and yours and congratulations. One thing about a flood like this - there'll be lots of game. Yum!

After a week of searching I am happy to report that they are well, thank God; although they are cooking their food on an open fire. Trees fallen into their homes, men out all day removing trees to open the roads. No help from FEMA, or anyone else. (Just to stir the pot a little, I might mention that they are all white).

Praise God that they are safe and sound. But the mentioning that they are white "to stir the pot a little" was gratuitous and highly unnecessary.

The main point is that they are still on the positive side of the grave, and actually have something worthwhile to reconstruct. Praise God for that, too.

Very glad to hear about your family. As I heard O'Reilly say tonight, those who depend on themselves are much better off than those who depend on the government, any government. Sounds like your family is one of those, and I salute them. It's much better to have control over your own life [even when you are fighting a natural disaster.

As to FEMA, they only have 2500 permanent employees and 4,000 or so they can call in to cover 90,000 square miles. The problem with most people [not saying that is you I just want to get it off my chest] most do not comprehend the smallness of that department nor the breadth of this disaster. FEMA over the years has done so well in these disaster that they are now getting blamed for not being able to do it in such a huge disaster compounded by the second one in NO.

When you talk to your family tell them a lot of people out here are sending prayers.

My next door neighbor (Philadelphia area) drove to Mississippi last week when she found out that four out of five family members' homes were wiped out by Katrina in the Biloxi area. She loaded up an SUV and a trailer with supplies and started driving south.

I get a whole different picture in my mind when I think of New Orleans and the hordes of wards with their hands out, waiting for "the government" (aka, half my paycheck) to come save them. And feed them, clothe them, "take care of" them....

You just KNOW that the next step, after $2,000 debit cards are issued to each of the New Orleans "refugees", that demands for new houses with A/C and plasma screen TVs will come next. Their martyrdom in the press, and therefore with the whore politicians, will go on for years. We all may as well bend over and get ready - - here comes "the government".

They have one thing in common at least. Jon Stewart is too dumb to know they were both at least partly to blame for New Orleans.

I'm glad to hear that your family is safe and accounted for- you must be relieved beyond belief.

For the record though, I'd like to bitch-slap the idiot responsible for the frenzy into which people are being whipped and encouraged to turn this into a f****** political issue rather then a 'we-survived-Katrina's-wrath-but-together-as-Americans-we-will-overcome' mindset it should have been.. and honestly, it's beginning to really piss me off.
