How in the heck did this incompetent ever get elected? One thing is for sure...she won't be back...career over. She needs a new hobby...like bobbing for rotten apples in that slime surge.

Blanco to decide Superdome's fate later

Correction: Blanco to hold off on asking for Federal $Billions to build new White Elephant Sports Palace until the bodies are buried...

Once we start talking about tearing down the Superdome in order to build the Super-Duper-Dome, you will know that the situation has returned to normal and the Donks are back to raiding the Treasury for stupid pet projects 24/7.

If the government decides to fund this, not one more thin dime from me!. Because all other needs will have obviously been met, and building yet another stadium boondoggle is not high on my list of priorities.

The Superdome just turned 30 years old

These days, 30 years is pretty old for a stadium anyway.

If nothing else, they could could gut it and rebuild it with more floor space, generators with a large fuel supply and its own water tower and have a ready to go shelter for next time.

Oh, and drain half of Lake Pontchartrain to use as a retention pond.

Maybe they can rebuild and than call it 'Marie Laveaux Stadium'. We'll send the Lions down there to play, since they're the closest thing to the living dead in the NFL.

The Astrodome is 40 years old. Built in 1965. I attended the first Houston Astros game there as a teenybopper. I went to a Lorretta Lynn concert there and a Huntsville prison rodeo. I remember it was state of the art for the period. It was beautiful!

New Orleans should count it's blessings that it was a relatively small breach on a canal levee with water from Lake Pontchartrain.

Had it been a breech of one of the Mississippi River levee's there's no telling how much damage would have been done. I don't know if it could have even been fixed.

My memories of the Astrodome include the Rolling Stones, Elvis, Roy Rogers and Luv Ya Blue!

I wasn't implying a 30 year old stadium is too old, just that sports teams like new, shiny stuff.

Well. she did make one decision and stick to it. Don't let in the Red Cross,or FEMA!

And a fine decision it was. The last thing you want to do is attract people to shelters during a cat 5 hurricane and massive flooding. You have to ensure that the conditions in the shelters are so unpleasant that people will prefer to stay in safe places like on rooftops and in trees. And, most of all, its critical to secure all city owned vehicles so that only city employees with proper union credentials will be able to drive them.

The feud between Blanco and the Saints has been bubbling for some time.

She has a real problem with appearing to bending to outside pressure.

She must have a real ego problem that led to her incompetent, johnny come lately, handling of the disaster, recovery, rescue, and relief. She actually preferred to risk the lives of her constituents rather than take advice from people she disliked. Mayor Nagin seems to suffer from the same problem.

Blanco to decide Superdome's fate later

Blanco has proved she has that ability...no not the ability to make a decision...the ability to do it later. She's not far off from needing guidance from a close associate as to when she should *hit.

Hmmm...I'm no fan of Blanko, but she does know the people of NO. They are now content to stay in the Astrodome and do not want to leave for other states because they are "comfortable." Making professional freeloaders comfortable is no way to get rid of them.

And if there was a bloody riot on Main Street would you
(1) Clean up the gore and open it back up to the public?
(2) Tear up the street and lay new asphalt?

This was the Main Street of football in New Orleans. Until those levees have been built up to withstand cat 5 storm surges, not an unnecessary penny should be spent in New Orleans.

Huh? How did you get THAT out of THIS?
It will be destroyed..

It has become a symbol of everything that went wrong in New Orleans..
It is now nothing but a big, bad, memory that nobody wants to be reminded of..

You're just spoiling for a fight, aren't you?
Your attack (and that is what it is) was totally unwarranted..

With a charged firehose.

"I wish there was a photoshopped picture of Blanco's head on a Scarlett O'Hara body with a caption, "I'll think about that tomorrow".

I wish I'd win the lottery this Friday.

(Just testing your abilities.)

Why aren't the owners of the Super dome chiming in on this? Does the state own the building?
