Maybe even worse than this. KLIF in Dallas reported that maybe as many as 11,000 prisoners were released and placed in the Super dome. It was reported they were allowed to mingle and evacuated along with all the others from there to Texas and points west. No one is sure where they are. Possibly a rumor, but KLIF is doing follow-ups today. Did hear that a jail in east TX made room for some, but not 11,000. All of our jails are severely overcrowded.

Not a rumour: Family in Dallas who took in family of evacuees into their home had their 13 year old daughter raped by man of the family. Slime ball now in jail.

Had the city or state done its job, it would have made it easier for these people to last the four five days until the feds arrived. Therefore, the state and city, as first responders, are to mostly blame here.

The feds were on the job as soon as possible - you are reiterating the talking points of the democrat party and it's official mouthpiece, the MSM. The reason there is so much screaming and finger-pointing at the fed and presidential level is to screen what really happened - total failure of the democrat mayor, democrat-controlled city services, democrat-controlled state services, democrat governor, and democrat senator and congressmen. The feds did not drop the ball, they went in full force after they were asked by the incompetent governor, according to the law of the land. You need to read a bit more and understand the politics, local and national, to get a feel for what is happening here. It is a coup attempt against the President of the United States, cloaked in a "humanitarian" smoke screen, by the democrat party aided and abetted by a treasonous left-wing media.

"Jon Stewart's "news program" carries more weight in the MSM than FOXNEWS."

Which is exactly why the federal government is needed in New Orleans. It is to show a majority of people, that remained behind, where the teat is and have a government employee shove it in their collective mouths.

They are simply too stupid to have insticts for survival.

Initial CNN Reaction: The Governor of Louisana is a big fat pig dog swine sheet wearing cross burning stars & bars bearing homophobic hate mongering white male Republican! What's that? She's a woman and a Democrat? Well then, it's the President's fault.

I guess I am having a hard time figuring out where State Rights enter into this.

I hate new programs, but it might be time for FEMA to have some sort of Rapid Reaction force, that the States can opt into if they want. I am thinking solely of saving lives here, I realize that this could be a beauracratic nightmare and turf war, however...

Problem with FOx News is that they are not reporting it either and it was their own reporter Major Garrett's story.

If FOx won't even cover their own story then I guess it never happened.

I recall a story just like this posted on Free Republic in the last few days. Someone had a friend get out of New Orleans and got hold of the red Cross and told them people needed help and were told that the State stopped them.

Not even Drudge will carry the link.

Why is everyone ignoring this revelation?

Bombard Drudge with links.

Where's the "outrage"?

There is no more outrage. There is only a silent unblinking stare, then the break to a commercial.

"Weren't they allocated funds under the LA Homeland Security Act?"

Don't know about LA, but Homeland Security guy, and official of our fire dept. in Parker Co. TX just were convicted of stealing over $50,000 of that fund. They bought big screen tv.s, four wheelers, ski doos, etc. The problem with these "pools" of money is there's always a crook to embezzle it. Considering this was LA, a close look at that fund needs to happen. The money may have already been spent.

I'm starting to have problems following all of this. I just can't seem to concentrate on it. I took this test and found that my concentration is all messed up.

hmmmm...before the storm hit weren't we hearing from the Red Cross that they couldn't go into areas where they couldn't gurantee the safety of the shelter?

Was that how they were spinning it because they weren't allowed in?

Oh, goody! Now we can sit back and watch the MSM ignore the story.

This was known to the press as early as 9/2/05.

I liked the howdy doody headed guy in the Fox newsroom in NY, stumbling all around and stammering excuses during the worst of the aftermath when Shep asked him repeatedly if they were airing the video that Shep shot. Fox was busily censoring the real news last week.

Well, Major Garrett works for FOXNEWS and all the other liberal networks ignore FOXNEWS,

More and more are picking it up. This isn't something that can be kept under the rug and most in the media know it. They have careers and they're not stupid. This can't be kept quiet and it's going to get even bigger and people will remember who ignored it and who didn't. That will last far beyond this story. Most importantly, their advertisers will be watching this and won't want to be identified with someone who is attempting to cover this up. This is a story of national significance.
