Star power on the Hurricane Katrina help line ratcheted up a notch over the weekend when Sean Penn arrived in Houston with ambitious plans to charter a jet to fly to New Orleans and aid in the rescue of evacuees.

Friday night, Penn, Fox News' Greta Van Susteren , writer and professor Doug Brinkley of New Orleans and Daniel Schiller, a Houstonian who had plans to open a restaurant in New Orleans, head-huddled over drinks at the Four Seasons Hotel.

The Four Seasons has served as unofficial headquarters for the Fox network team.

This wouldn't be important to me at all, if Sean Penn hadn't "appeared" in New Orleans to save the day, and only stayed 9 hours. It wouldn't matter to me at all, except that Douglas Brinkley was on Imus this morning, savagely attacking President Bush and FEMA, and....I must add, glorifying Sean Penn and himself! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrr

I watched Douglas Brinkley this morning on Imus. Excuse my rough notes, but my hair was on fire as I listened and tried to take notes at the same time. Douglas Brinkley should lose all credibility over what he said this morning. I'm hoping Rush was watching too, and will replay the idiocy of Brinkley, and Imus too.
(But I fear Rush won't criticize Imus. Too bad if this exchange does not get wide attention)
Here are my very rough notes of the interview:

Douglas Brinkley on Imus, part of the charm of the big easy is the corruption. The levee never got built high enough, this was predicted,

Brinkley continues FEMA is doing a horrible job, very confusing, they re blocking everything.

Brinkley says there is a disconnect, Homeland security worries keep help from getting in.

Brinkley says he brought people out in a private boat. I took people who wanted to go but wooulddn't leave the dogss.
History will show Bush behaved badly .
Blasts FEMA. It's just been awful

Imus says it's because of the race of the people,, and Brinkley says he couldn't agree more.

Brinkley says Blanco is a nice woman, but she couldn't handle it. "deer in the heaaaadlightsss is how he described her.
He says Nagin's policy was to pretend the big one wouldn't happen.

No public health officials to take out corpses.

Nobody did partiticcualry well, NO has taken over. teachers, waiters, lawyers the people of New Orleeeans have taken over the city to save their city, they are rescuing the peoplee,
The police force has doing a great job, but they are exhausted, they've had no relieef.
If you see a FEMA official, you just push them aside or laugh.

Imus thinks this hurrrricane is all about racism AND BRINKLEY AGREES!!!!

BRINKLEY AGREES!!! The insensitivity of Barbara Bush is incredible.
(I wonder how Brinkley in NO, without electricity, knows all this)

Clearly the Bush administration does not know the black cultureee.

Brinkley says people there just laugh when someone from the White House is there.
History will show the president and VP offered too little too late. Brinkley blasts Michael Brown too.
MARK MY WORD, BRINKKLEY PLANS TO BE THE HISTORIAN OF THIS....NO MENTION HE WAS RIDING AROUND IN A BOAT WiTH SEAN PENN.
HE"S A PARTISAN HACK.
He says the elite of the city got out, the rich got out. He says the good thing, is the projects are gone and new, nice housing can be built.

"Sean Penn was there with his boots on the ground, doing a good job saving people," Brinkley says

I was born at Mercy Hospital in New Orleans in 1957. I was raised in Destrehan, just west of the city on a road that ran the one mile from the swamps to the levee.

I will not donate a dime. I am ashamed of the people and what the city has become. The real men who lived in the area 30 years ago would have made sure the women and children were fed and the looters were dead. God damn New Orleans and the scum who are left.

"He says the elite of the city got out, the rich got out. He says the good thing, is the projects are gone and new, nice housing can be built. "

LOL.
How does he think "The Projects" got started?
They were all "new, nice housing" at one time. That lasted about a week.

And Harry Reid this morning saying relief money should not go through FEMA because they've messed up. Made me LOL! That logic would mean, Democrat controlled New Orleans and Louisiana should not receive relief money BECAUSE THEY'VE MESSED UP FOR SIXTY YEARS!!!!!!

But Democrats like Reid aren't known for their logic.!

NEW New Orleans should be built entirely out of waterproof matches. It will just be easier in the long run.

Fellow Freepers:

At the suggestion of writer Michelle Malkin last Friday, I have cobbled together a blogsite called Texas Clearinghouse for Katrina Aid to serve as a clearinghouse for refugee efforts in Texas.

Texas is getting more refugees than any other state -- that's fine, we'll take them all -- but we need help providing them with food, clothing, medicine, and shelter. We need help taking care of their pets, too.

If you are a refugee, you can information that will help you find relief. If you want to donate or volunteer, you can find someone who needs you. Believe me, there are a lot of organizations who need your help.

Right now the site mostly covers Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas but I'm adding more every night. My wife was down at Reunion Arena in Dallas Tuesday handing out care packages and spiritually ministering to the refugees as a representative of her employer. She says that the situation is tragic and that there's a lot of work to be done. There are so many children who don't know where their parents are or even if their parents are still alive.

There are a lot of churches and other organizations in Texas that need help in dealing with the problem and I would appreciate it if you would get the word out.

Many thanks,

Michael McCullough

Stingray blogsite
