Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005 11:38 a.m. EDT Ray Nagin: School Buses Not Good Enough
New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin garnered a ton of publicity with a profanity-laced interview he gave to WWL radio last Thursday, where he blasted President Bush and Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco for not coming to rescue his city in time.
However, Nagin's most newsworthy comments - where he explained why he didn't used hundreds of city school buses to evacuate his city's flood victims - went almost unnoticed.
Turns out, Nagin turned his nose up at the yellow buses, demanding more comfortable Greyhound coaches instead. "I need 500 buses, man," he told WWL. "One of the briefings we had they were talking about getting, you know, public school bus drivers to come down here and bus people out of here."
Nagin described his response:
"I'm like - you've got to be kidding me. This is a natural disaster. Get every doggone Greyhound bus line in the country and get their asses moving to New Orleans."
While Nagin was waiting for his Greyhound fleet, Katrina's floodwaters swamped his school buses, rendering them unusable.
Nagin couldn't lead sailors to a whorehouse.
Maybe people HERE, need to clean up their act.
Let's see. Moved to cruise ships and then given $2000 debit cards---and school buses weren't good enough?
Barbara Bush was right.
Your word's good enough for me bert, because you don't lie.
That said it wouldn't have mattered if there were 100,000 buses -- equipped with saunas -- within 10 miles of NO ground zero.
Not if they weren't used in accordance with their own Evac plan(s)?
That they weren't [used] even the twisted logic of the Liberal-Socialists can contest.
It's fact.
Next logical question, then?
*Why* weren't the buses used?
And even a cursory examination of the facts we know *now* points and/or leads to this incompetent mayor, THEN, the governor.
That's the official "chain-of-command", isn't it?
Seems the Associated Quislings are at work -- in earnest -- providing cover for this mayor -- who the AQ *know* is where "the buck *will* stop" first? -- excuse(s), galore.
They'll take care of the governor's alibi, *next*.
I believe that's what this story's really trying to illustrate, alert people to.
"The governor will not answer directly though, she will request 24 hours to review the photo in private."
The village idiot will hang a pic of those buses on the wall of her office, *IF*, the AQ can separate her onus from the buses (sitting, flooded) *first* before any serious inquiries begin.
And *that's* the time the AQ has to work their shtick: between now *&* then.
The AqP's modus operandi is all I'm calling attention to.
We've [read: you *&* I] have seen their mo a thousand times before.
The Associated Quislings & the *process* that'll attempt to absolve *both* these Liberal-Socialist creeps of any *&* all responsibility -- whatsoever -- is on display for all to witness.
...again.
He could have at least used the busses to move the children to higher ground saving both the children and the busses. I heard the state wouldn't allow the busses to be used because they weren't insured for evacuations.
The answer to who would have driven the buses?
The same people that drove the buses of refugees, oops excuse me, survivors, to Houston and elsewhere - LA NG.
.
.....*Why* weren't the buses used?.....
That's easy. There was a war in Baton Rouge. The former governor of Texas who knew more about being a governor than the lady in Baton Rouge, was trying to convince her to let him bring federal help.Fearing political mischief, unlike the governors of Ms and Al,she chose not to act. The mayor's calls to evac were un heeded because the ruckus took priority. The feds were also contacting counterparts in the La agencies to get a run an go. The fed offensive thouroughly freaked the LA rats. They were up to their ass in alligators and neglected to remember the mission was to drain the swamp.
The levee broke and the mayor was out of time.
The rats are screaming as loud and as long as they can. The AQ knows that if it can't cover it all up there will be hell to pay. The 13% disapproval number is a measure of their failure. Everytime an issue is raised, an LA politician gets a blackeye. My favorite shiner is the one administered to the Sierra club for opposing the levees.
You betcha.

Wow.
Nice.
All the who, what, where, when & whys all wrapped up in a tidy, succinctly written paragraph one could ever ask for.
As much as the Aq-P could really use your talents right about now, my friend, it'll never happen. {g}
Still I'm genuinely *excited* to see exactly how the Associated Quislings will bend, twist and/or distort all existing facts in an attempt to absolve the two nitwit Libral-Socialists.
Call me a sadist. :^)
"The rats are screaming as loud and as long as they can."
Amen brother!
Preach it!
"The AQ knows that if it can't cover it all up there will be hell to pay."
And they'll have failed their *masters*, miserably.
Dear Lord, make it so.
"The 13% disapproval number is a measure of their failure."
You have to know that little double-digit number, in spite of their best effortS to dictate otherwise, just has to have 'em talking to themselves.
Life is good. ;^)
"Everytime an issue is raised, an LA politician gets a blackeye."
Agreed.
Precisely *why* the GOP must ramrod any & all "investigations" the Liberal-Socialists are screaming for.
The truth will be *stranger* than any fiction spun by the Associated Quislings writers, and that's for damned sure.
"Reality Media" anyone?!
"My favorite shiner is the one administered to the Sierra club for opposing the levees."
HA!!
Yea, that's a good one.
But bert ol buddy?
As I said, I'm a *sadist*.
When it comes to outing 'Rats AND/OR their gawd-awful sickening quisling mediots for the express purpose of revealing the liars, hence, humiliate 'em?
...I want *more*. :o)
At the suggestion of writer Michelle Malkin last Friday, I have cobbled together a blogsite called Texas Clearinghouse for Katrina Aid to serve as a clearinghouse for refugee efforts in Texas.
Texas is getting more refugees than any other state -- that's fine, we'll take them all -- but we need help providing them with food, clothing, medicine, and shelter. We need help taking care of their pets, too.
If you are a refugee, you can information that will help you find relief. If you want to donate or volunteer, you can find someone who needs you. Believe me, there are a lot of organizations who need your help.
Right now the site mostly covers Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas but I'm adding more every night. My wife was down at Reunion Arena in Dallas Tuesday handing out care packages and spiritually ministering to the refugees as a representative of her employer. She says that the situation is tragic and that there's a lot of work to be done. There are so many children who don't know where their parents are or even if their parents are still alive.
There are a lot of churches and other organizations in Texas that need help in dealing with the problem and I would appreciate it if you would get the word out.
Many thanks,
Michael McCullough

?????
He's right. By the time he did anything he needed submarines.
I wonder if this will get any attention from the mainstream media?
This whole thing goes to show once again the inherent disadvantage Republicans face in the public relations arena. While the federal response may not have been what it should or could have have been, its obvious that most of the blame lies with local and state govt. Does anyone think Jeb Bush would have gotten the pass given to Blanco if he had botched things up last year like she did with Katrina?
Unfortunately, most of the tragedy and damage resulted from the governor of Louisiana and mayor of New Orleans. The question is which of them displayed more incompetence and stupidity.
I do wonder if Nagin really held such an attitude towards the school buses, or if it is just a very bad cover for the possibility that use of the school buses never even crossed his mind. Either way, it reflects very poorly on him.
