Amid the heart-wrenching moments of devastation from deadly hurricane Katrina, there is at least one bright spot. Snowball, a small white dog taken by police from a sobbing little boy as he and his family were boarding a bus at the Superdome, has been located, USA Today reported Thursday.
Snowball is now at the Louisiana SPCA in Gonzalez and will be reunited with his owner, U.S. Department of Agriculture veterinarian Terry Conger told the newspaper. The Humane Society of the United States and the Louisiana SPCA rescued 43 dogs and 16 cats from the Superdome and delivered them to a temporary shelter at Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.

Good news!
The role that pets play in peoples lives is important and should not be ignored in terrible disasters like this. People come first always. But a childs ability to cope with the aftermath, a pet can make all the diffrence in the world. Or adults for that matter. This news will cheer many.
ROFLOL!
LOL! Best post of the week! : D
Wait'l they tell the kid that Snowball must be spayed or neutered before being returned!
I guess you could be right but would it not be nice? I would like a picture. The last time I saw anything about this there was an active search for the child but the little dog ahd been found. The confusion in finding him/her had come about because the shelter workers had called him a terrier mix and he was a different kind of breed. Let us all hope it is true. :)
Ping! Maybe so?
You owe me a coffee and a new keyboard sir!
You owe me a coffee and a new keyboard sir!
I don't trust the Newspaper headline. As of 5PM yesterday they had confirmed that he had NOT been found, but earlier in the day they thought he had. What is the paper's turn-a-round time?
Too damned funny!!!
O.K. fine now you owe me a new keyboard;)
Me thinks you best buy a pallet full of keyboards quickly
This is good news. The Dallas Morning News had two pics in its photo gallery yesterday of a little dog that just tear your heart out...covered in oil, looking more like an otter than a dog. I hope someone is caring for him now.
Me, too... first he's found, then not found, and now found? I want a picture of Snowball and his owner before I'm convinced... several of us emailed Greta last night with photos of Snowball to see if she could find out something.
Really makes you question the reporting of the MSM on how poorly things are being taken care of in NO, when they can run a story like this as headline news.
Your right it could another white dog so we'll just have to wait and see but I sure hope it is Snowball and that he will be reunited with his little master
The story was updated around noon today on the MSNBC website.
FOFL!
Best chuckle I've had all week.
