Amid the heart-wrenching moments of devastation from deadly hurricane Katrina, there is at least one bright spot. Snowball, a small white dog taken by police from a sobbing little boy as he and his family were boarding a bus at the Superdome, has been located, USA Today reported Thursday.
Snowball is now at the Louisiana SPCA in Gonzalez and will be reunited with his owner, U.S. Department of Agriculture veterinarian Terry Conger told the newspaper. The Humane Society of the United States and the Louisiana SPCA rescued 43 dogs and 16 cats from the Superdome and delivered them to a temporary shelter at Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.

I hope that the photographer who took that picture had enough humanity in him to take the dog to a shelter where it can be given medical attention.
My fear is that the dog could be ill from trying to lick the oil off its fur.
That's what I am afraid of, too. It's just so sad. We can't judge the reporter because we don't know the circumstances, but I'm hoping this pic and the Snowball story will be catalysts for more action.
I was never concerned about the dog, since there was no report of the dog being shot by the policeman or otherwise harmed. I was concerned and am still concerned about the little boy who is missing his pet.
My new tagline, do you mind?
Uh oh, PC police might prefer caretaker or owner....
I'm a "mom" of four dogs and this story is so sad.
Lol! Not at all - I feel honored!:o)
Well if it is and Snowball is never found I would gladly donate some $$$ to buy this little boy a Bichon Frise puppy if he can be found
Can you post his e-mail address?
Thanks
Thanks I just him an e-mail also
Mom of one here
Mom of two...see my personal page for pictures of them in all their spoiled glory.
Goop® will get the oil and grease right off. I routinely use it on my dogs (seriously), and it leaves their fur shiney and soft. And I don't work for Goop® either, LOL!
Nope, didn't see it.
