LABARRE: This is where you're camping out and this is what you're showing the world. You have everybody in the world believing that the whole city looks like it. I would suggest that you go over there and start -- and film a little bit where it's not flooded.

That is the TRUTH

Thanks (even though the owner of the site no longer likes hot-links to the videos). The individual post does work for launching the video though - http://thepoliticalteen.net/2005/09/08/morninglabarre

This is the basis for your ranting?

Sport, it's CNN and it was one woman. It is a disaster of Biblical proportions. You may just want to give this topic and me a rest.

I've said it before & I will say it again here - it saddens me that I truly can see no other way to get this done & not divert resources other than having all people out of the city.

Fellow Freepers:

At the suggestion of writer Michelle Malkin last Friday, I have cobbled together a blogsite called Texas Clearinghouse for Katrina Aid to serve as a clearinghouse for refugee efforts in Texas.

Texas is getting more refugees than any other state -- that's fine, we'll take them all -- but we need help providing them with food, clothing, medicine, and shelter. We need help taking care of their pets, too.

If you are a refugee, you can information that will help you find relief. If you want to donate or volunteer, you can find someone who needs you. Believe me, there are a lot of organizations who need your help.

Right now the site mostly covers Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas but I'm adding more every night. My wife was down at Reunion Arena in Dallas Tuesday handing out care packages and spiritually ministering to the refugees as a representative of her employer. She says that the situation is tragic and that there's a lot of work to be done. There are so many children who don't know where their parents are or even if their parents are still alive.

There are a lot of churches and other organizations in Texas that need help in dealing with the problem and I would appreciate it if you would get the word out.

Many thanks,

Michael McCullough

You are truly made of the stock that made our country great. With men like you around we would be a colony.

Wow, I just watched it...what a dumb broad Soledad is. She just can't conceive that anyone in NOLA is a proud, self-sufficient person not begging for government assistance.

Thank God there are smart, tough women like this interviewee to counteract the morons. This bike lady was totally ready for both the hurricane and these insufferably smug reporters.

And what is her obsession with the smell of the water? Does she think her stuff don't stink?

But 'geez she's dummmmmb!

As are many "journalists". They used to be reporters... they reported what they saw, not what they put in thier diaries (journalism).

I've noticed a trend over several years... journalists and copywriters have a very poor command of the language. You'd expect better from people who write and talk for a living.

I just viewed the clip, and I don't think Soledad O'Brien was being dumb or smug at all. I think she was asking the same questions viewers might be asking in light of the indelible visions of the more disgusting things we have seen. O'Brien was learning on the fly how Ms. Labarre was able to cope with the situation, and it was informative, especially the part in which Labarre indicated she has contacted an attorney and asked the mayor for a meeting with other resistors (fat chance). I look forward to the follow-up in Labarre's home, regardless of whether we get to watch Soledad lather up (sorry, couldn't resist).

One more thing: Ms. Labarre shook Soledad's hand and graciously said O'Brien would be welcome in her home. What was transcribed as "Don't touch me" was said off camera as O'Brien was wrapping up the live report, and her words were not crystal clear. It might have been something completely different, because Labarre sounded like she was laughing as she said it. But if Ms. Labarre did indeed say that, she didn't say it to O'Brien.

And what is her obsession with the smell of the water? Does she think her stuff don't stink?

Be reasonable. Nobody likes to breathe around raw sewage.

LABARRE: They did not offer these people a way out to begin with. They offered them a ride to Superdome. They never offered them transportation out of the city.

Interesting. I don't believe I've heard that before.

Wait, doesn't she mean, "We looted, of course. We had no choice--it was for survival"?

Maybe she was just like the rest of the people in the US that prepare for big storms.

"They never offered them transportation out of the city."

And then the CNN liberal hack switched the subject to asking her about showers?

How obvious

Congratulations! It took 22 posts before somebody caught the most important newsworthy piece of dialogue.

Imagine if the woman was blaming this on the feds and wanted a meeting with GWB...they would have created Cindy II right there on the spot! Instead, they tried to pave over it.

That sums up the MSM right there...the biggest deceipt is what they DON'T report, even more than the trash they DO report.

S. O'BRIEN: What do you mean?

LABARRE: Well, I mean I saw where they were putting them. They promised them a bus. They promised them a nice place to live and they put them at -- in hellacious conditions at the Superdome, at the convention center. I talked to those people. They were made promises and they didn't come through with them. And they -- I'm sure they're making promises to them now that they're not -- if they don't come through, you know?

So, and I think that there's a lot of media hype right now. I'm questioning whether or not there's not a little bit of a manipulation of the media so that when the death toll starts coming in, that the mayor and other officials can say see, you've been reporting it for all this time. People refused to leave and that's why there's so many dead.

That is not true.

Hmmm, I have the feeling that things slowly but surely are turning around

No reporting, just scriptwriting. Have you noticed how now that the hysterical reporters don't have any yelling black people to exploit in front of the camera, they are now going BACK to the superdome and talking about it as if its still going on.

Cheap shots now abound, whining about red tape, reporting every complaint, well DUH! Claiming that FEMA, ie Bush, cost lives, in the same breath as they "report" about hurricane deaths. Soon the hurricane will be wiped from history, and FEMA will have been the cause of the destruction.

What have we been telling them for 30 years about big gov, Hillary care, ect. Where are the constant airing of our complaints about big gov, taxes, red tape, that we have to deal with in business, health, law, education, for 24/7 in our lives.

Joe Scarborough is the worst, SINCE HE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR RED TAPE HIS ENTIRE CAREER AS A POLITICIAN!

It is the most sickening display of reporting I have ever seen, emotional, hysterical, irrational, no context, racist, no real information, no explanation, just whining.

They treat these poor souls as victims when they are survivors of a epic natural disaster.

Incendiary is the only word I have for this dismal display, and I hope that history's judgment is not kind their profession, or to their "kind" of reporting.

That description could be used as a definition of what being a 'liberal' actually is.

I actually think this is a good thing, as the general public, the less politically minded, and even some long time dems, will all be turned off by these actions and we win even more over to our side.

When your enemy is destroying himself...stand clear! They are finally showing their true liberal colors...publicly...without shame.
