I do seriously believe that Blaco concerns were centered about her maintining her authority as governor of the state of LA rather than actual help to the people

The disaster relief command was "AN ISSUE" she needed to claim. The issue of actual relieve was irrelevant to her. In her eyes as a democrat, that would sort itself out and she could spin anything to her advantage.

Look now as they try to evacuate people from the non-flood areas, they are going to try and "starve people out" too.
The military says they will not do that, Nagin wants people out by force, Blaco wants people out by denial of help.

There were deliberate and contumacious steps taken by the Governor to maintain her authority. She acted with thought as if she were hearding cattle.

It's a conspiracy. Blanco just wanted the animals, i mean the people to leave New Orleans and not come back ever. Nagin was not informed of this because he's too incompetent to run anything. He'll just cry in his hotel corner. LoL

Unfortunately, the story that gets out always makes our president look worse.

It is truly amazing the foresight that this president has had in planning for disaster preparedness. How many people are aware of the National Response Plan that the president implemented late last fall? Has this even been mentioned by the MSM? (rhetorical question - of course not... catering to the grade-school attention spans of their audiences)

http://www.dhs.gov/interweb/assetlibrary/NRPbaseplan.pdf

DHS or FEMA didn't have to wait for the local governments requests or lack thereof, and I'm kind of appalled that they let a corrupt governor take over their sphere of authority.

The administration has been way too deferential to corrupt local officials in the name of "bipartisanship" ... and their (let's just say the heads of FEMA and DHS) lack of spine is doing a disservice to the president.

Is this the same Red Cross that compared Gitmo to the Gulag? Sounds about right. The higher ups just straightened them out on what party is in power in Louisiana.

I don't think the donk machine in charge there meant for any people to die from their actions. But people did die & as I said in another post, they died because of depraved indifference. Yes, the people were supposed to bring a couple of days supplies. That mitigates some of LA's culpability, BUT intentionally preventing people from bringing in needed relief is downright criminal!

It was a STUPID idea not to water them to "encourage" them to leave. What made it CRIMINAL and MURDEROUS was that THEY DIDN'T FREAKING EVACUATE THEM AND THEY WOULDN'T LET THEM OUT!!!!!

Do not confuse the Red Cross, which does good work and is (mostly) apolitical, with Amnesty Internation, which is a joke. Thank you.

At the very moment that Ray Nagin, the Mayor of New Orleans was screaming where's the food, where's the water, it was over the overpass, and state officials were saying you can't come in.

What that the overpass to neighboring Greta(?)

The Red Cross is a fund RAISING organization. They only spend their cash when absolutely required to keep the donations coming in.

Dems are siding with those who want to destroy America in the War on Terrorism...what's to say they wouldn't do their little part to crash down the system?

Many of them really believe we shouldn't be the only Superpower...that we are too powerful.

They also said last year that we should be paying $3-4 dollars a gallon for gas like they do in Europe. Who's to say that they wouldn't do their little parts to bring down the gas system, like thwarting new refineries and new oilwells?

Rats need victims to stay in power. If they don't have enough, they create a few.

As if New Orleans didn't have enough "Victims" before Katrina stomped through.

Homicide - death at the hands of another human. Murder, I agree with your sentiment 100%, but it won't fall there I don't think. Of course we know the only accountability may be political, however otherwise the possible array could be from negligent homicide on up.....
What about mass negligent involuntary manslaughter? If enough of us, or enough people pursued this, could it happen? Wanna find out? Count me in

The Houston Chronicle has an excellent article outlining the failures of Local New Orlean's and Louisiana politicians during Hurricane Katrina. It even includes a picture of the unused buses. You may find the article here: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/special/05/katrina/3344347

man, just a general comment but I was thinking where would we be without the right and the ability to bear arms.

Well brace yourself -- this afternoon, they decreed that no "civilians" will be ALLOWED to bear arms in NO LA -- INCLUDING people with carry permits!

They are kicking out ALL the jams in their efforts to ensure that refugees are driven out of their homes, into TOTAL dependence on the mercy of the government. You WILL be prey for the vermin, you WILL starve, you WILL dehydrate, or, you WILL get in line and MARCH!

Welcome to the New America.

And they are surprised that people refuse to leave their homes NOW after all that's happened? They paint the people who are staying as unbalanced or stupid but they're really knowing that as soon as they leave everything they have will be stolen by the hooligans in uniform. My God if ever a city needed to be taken over by the Feds, this is the time.
