Local and state officials in Louisiana did not want to deal with stranded people in the city. As you can see by their evacuation plan, they wanted people to flee the city, period. They probably needed this desperately in order to cover the fact that graft and corruption had depleted their resourses.

So, as Gov Blanco has herself admitted, they did not allow any more food, water or supplies in after people were flowing into the Super Dome. Remember her cutesy statement during the evacuation that those coming to the dome must pretend they are camping out and bring their own supplies.

I hope she hangs for this as blood is on her hands.

---"Remember her cutesy statement during the evacuation that those coming to the dome must pretend they are camping out and bring their own supplies."----

To sum up their plan:

1) Sick and elderly to be evacuated using city and school buses.

2) The few remaining able-bodied people remaining will use the dome as a last resort, and will bring their own food and water for 3 days.

3) After the hurricane, bus remaining few people to evac. centers away from N.O.

4) People will be moved to safety (and food and water) - food and water will not be brought into the hazard zone.

IF everything had gone according to plan - it's not such a bad idea. How come the guy covering Step 4 was the only one doing his job?
