Thanks for this, the husband is heading there tomorrow to help a relative repair their house. This will be most helpful.

Can anyone tell me if I can get from Columbus to D'iberville and get gas to get back home?

My son's girlfriend's family is in D'iberville. They have trees down and some water damage in the house. I have 8 days of vacation and am just waiting for the above information before I head that way to help out.

Waiting for FEMA, hardest-hit residents survive in squalor

By John Simerman
THE SUN HERALD

Sep. 8--BILOXI - As the Gulf Coast creeps back to life, treading hopeful baby steps in a long recovery, some residents who remain in this city's ravaged eastern peninsula dwell in post-Katrina squalor, sleeping in molding, sludge-coated houses, digging holes for toilets and waiting longingly for FEMA.
---
At some point, city officials will order residents out and cordon off much of east Biloxi, said Vincent Creel, a city spokesman.

Creel said several services for Katrina victims are available within blocks of the neighborhood, and residents ultimately need to take responsibility to seek them out.

"You can't just wait for things to happen," he said. "This is not Domino's. We don't deliver."

"It's not going to be too much longer. I can't say days, weeks or months, but it's coming, "Creel said. "We can't allow it to be unsafe for them or the city. Hopefully it won't come to the point where we have to force them to leave."

I surely do hope it won't be much longer.
God bless all of them.

Thanks for the post and ping.
