I've never heard of a hurricane hitting Norway.

I lived in Norway for 15 years and there were lots of them and some extremely severe.

The tail end of andrew hit some years back and it wrecked havoc, putting coastal towns under 3 m of water.

They are considered extratropical cyclones at that latitude and lose their hurricane "designation." We've had a few like this in California - they start out as a hurricane, then go way north of Hawaii, then come and hit us as a cut off low.
