This remeinds me of a Churchill quote: "A fanatic is one who won't change his mind and won't change the subject."

Excellent! I think I'll replace my Christmas themed tagline with that after "The Holidays" are over...

I'm glad you like the Churchill quote since it's been a favorite of mine for a number of years. Here's a little acecdote:

I used to work for a small company which was composed of many family members and sometimes family squabbles spilled over into the workplace. One day a number of us in the service department were having lunch in some pizza place and Joe began cutting on his brother-in-law, Mark, who was late. Joe said, "He's probably listening to that idiot, Limbaugh, again." This was a cue for others at the table to also start cutting on Mark who had been urging others to give Rush a chance, since he was relatively new to national radio and all the MSM commentary had been about what an extremist he was. Joe would augment each comment with further commentary as to what a jerk his brother-in-law was.

After sitting and listening for a while, Joe asked what I thought. I said, "Well I tend to agree with Churchill when he said, 'A fanatic is one who won't change his mind and won't change the subject.'" Initially everyone thought I was talking about Mark, but within half a minute the conversation had moved on to another topic.

I'm sure some didn't catch on to the combination of ambiguity and irony, but at least one guy did who gave me a "look" after I spoke. Sometimes life is great!
